We're learning about the shapes in Korean. There is a trick to remember the names so listen carefully!

Sqaure:

A square has four edges, so we add the number "사/sa) on the front and add 각형 at the end which basically means square.

사각형 = sa-gak-hyeong

Triangle:

For a triangle we use 각형 again and add three/삼 at the front.

삼각형 = sam-gak-hyeong

Rectangle:

Can you guess what we add at the end of a rectangle? Another sqaure!

직사각형 = Jik-sa-gak-hyeong

4-sided pyramid:

We know what four means in Korean = 사/sa

각/gak = sided

4-sided = 사각/sa-gak

However 각뿔/gak-bbul also means pyramid

It's not easy to understand but Koreans still add the number 4 to make it a 4-sided pyramid. If it was a three sided pyramid... you guessed it! 삼각뿔! Sam-gak-bbul

사각뿔 = sa-gak-bbul = 4-sided pyramid

삼각뿔 = Sam-gak-bbul = 3-sided pyramid

Circle:

원 = won

Oval:

Oval is basically a stretched circle right? We add circle/원 at the end of 타/ta

타원 = ta-won

Cylinder:

Cylinder is a raised CIRCLE, so we add circle at the front of 기둥/gi-dung which means pillar. Circle pillar ;)

원기둥 = won-gi-dung

Line:

선 = seon

Cube:

정육면체 = jeong-yuk-myeon-che

All set for a math class!! ... or something ...
