This lesson is going to be short and simple. We are going to learn how to say "I come from ____" in Korean.

Here is a few words to know before we make a sentence:

From: 에서
Come: 와 (in Korean you don't say "I come from" but "I came from"  because you are already there. But it depends on if someone is asking in present tense (where are you from?) Or past tense (where did you come from?).

Came: 왔어 (informal)

Examples (formal):

I came from America.
저는 미국에서 왔어서요.
Jeo-neun mi-guk-e-seo wass-eo-seo-yo.

I came from
저는 마레이시아에서 왔어서요.
Jeo-neun ma-le-i-si-ah-e-seo wass-eo-seo-yo.

Questions:

Where do you come from? (Notice the question is in present tense. Therefore you answer in present tense.)

어디에서 왔어요?

I come from America.
저는 미국에서 왔어요.
Jeo-neun mi-guk-e-seo wass-eo-yo.

The next thing you're about to hear sounds silly but it is also used a lot in Korea.

"Which country person are you?"

This is the direct translation of:
어디나라 사람이에요?

Meaning: where are you from?

And you can answer with the same thing as before.

I am from America.
저는 미국에서 왔어요.
Jeo-neun mi-guk-e-seo wass-eo-yo.

Or answer with the same silly words:

저는 미국 사람이에요.

Let me know in the comments what this could possibly mean or translated to ;)
