Finn Shelby - 'Yours' by Ella Henderson

You had always loved Finn. From an early age when you would play on the streets, you knew that you felt something strong for him. At first you didn't like the feeling, the control, the way one smile could make your whole day better, it confused you to say the least.

Now though, you were older. Eighteen in two months and you adored the feeling. The only feeling that you would look forward to when you got out of bed. The only thing was, when you were younger, you mother had passed due to a disease. Your father had went of the rails completely and treated you like shit, you knew it was never his fault. After all, you had tried to help him and tell him to get better but it never worked. Finn knew this  and had pleaded for you to move in with him, but you refused. It was like a duty, a debt that you wanted to pay back to your father. You weren't going to leave him because if you did, he wouldn't make it.

Even with problems at home, you got the best grades that you could. You taught Finn how to read and write, helped him with his homework and helped him through tough times - him doing the same to you.

You hadn't admitted your feelings to Finn, and had recently decided to do it on his birthday, which was, to your advantage, tomorrow. You were nervous to say the least but you needed to get the words out, the words you have been desperately trying to say for ten long years.

You had woken up at the crack of dawn the next day, skipping down the streets towards the Shelby house. You had flowers for Polly in one hand, and cigarettes and whiskey in the other for Finn.

The abrupt knock on the Shelby's front door, ran through the house like a whistle in the silent night. You heard soft footsteps along the floorboards until they stood behind the door, unlocking the locks before opening the door.

"Good morning, Pol! I picked these for you!" You cheered, stretching the freshly picked roses into Polly's hand before you stepped in and gave her a warm hug.

"Aww, thank you, my darling! Finn is still in bed, go up and see him if you want." Polly stated, her mood already brightened after seeing your beaming face. "That would be lovely. Thank you." You smiled, tiptoeing up the stairs to not wake Finn up.

You tried your best to not wake up Finn as you helplessly stumbled against the creaky floorboards and under the quilt in his warm bed. You didn't even have time to adjust to the new position before Finn tucked his arm around your waist and brought you closer to his chest, his head leaning on top of yours. He was shirtless and you so desperately wanted to kiss his exposed neck but held it together. "Happy Birthday." You breathed, your hot breath that fanned his neck had an effect on him that you weren't aware of. You leant up and pressed a soft kiss against his cheek and smiled to the feeling of your heart pounding violently and your stomach fluttering wildly.

"Thank you, love." He whispered, one eye opening to peer at your grinning face before he kissed your forehead. "I need to tell you something." You stated as you leant up on your elbows, your hair tickling Finn's bare chest. "What is it?" He asked softly, stroking the small of your back as you glimmered down at him. "For as long as I can remember, we've always been close. Very close in fact..." you started, his head nodding in agreement. "Well, recently I've started to feel some things." You stuttered, the lump in your throat settling. "I...I love you, Finn." You stammered, your cheeks flushing and your palms sweating. Finn didn't look surprised and he didn't look disappointed, he simply looked happy. "Good, because I love you too." He stated, his blue eyes warm and vibrant as he pulled your lips down to his. His lips were like pillows that moulded perfectly against your own. Suddenly, everything felt perfect. You had admitted your feelings to Finn and he had told you that he felt the same way. This was the start of a great relationship that would be full of love, passion, desire and loyalty.
