Being Luca Changretta's younger sister definitely had its advantages and disadvantages. You got away with most things around the city because of your family's reputation; people feared you and it resulted with you getting exactly what you want. No matter the cost.

There were also bad sides to being a Changretta. Like being a target for the enemy, being the weak link to torture so they could get to your older brother. That was just it, after you had had your fair amounts of run ins with people wanting to hurt you, some succeeding, Luca kept a tight eye on you. He was more protective and didn't let you walk out the house unless you had at least four of his men accompanying you.

It took you at least three hours to convince your older brother that you would be perfectly safe and well if he went away for the week to do some business, Luca knowing that you suffered with nightmares and the fact that he hates leaving you alone.

Now it was night and you had tried to fight the past memories of attacks you had encountered, pushing them down as if they weren't strong enough to beat you. But demons play in the dark, they play tricks on even the most strongest of victims. So there you were at three in the morning, palms clammy, your hair sticking to your forehead with sweat and silent sobs were escaping your lips as they trembled. Why you?

Deciding that you weren't going to fall back to sleep, you threw your sticky sheets off your body and let your limbs drop from your mattress, making your way downstairs for a smoke and a whiskey. That's how most of your nights were spent, perched on the sofa in front of the fireplace, staring into the flickering flame as you thought about how pathetic you felt. A mafia girl and you couldn't even fall asleep without your big brother guarding the house? You felt weak and as you brought the glass to your lips, you shook your head in defeat.

You were beyond happy when you realised that today was the day that Luca was coming home, excited to see your brother after he had been round town to complete the rounds, seeing to business only he was capable of doing. You leapt into his arms when he walked through the door, tucking your face into the crook of his neck, happy he was finally home. When you pulled away, he looked down at you and frowned in concern, searching your eyes.

"Y/n, are you okay? You look tired," he declared, his brows furrowing with worry. You let out a shaky laugh, shaking your head in dismay. "I'm fine," you smiled and walked over to pour your brother a glass of Scotch, catching a glimpse of yourself in your family's mirror that was perched on the wall. You looked completely dreadful; your hair was only just patted down neatly, you looked ghostly pale and your eyes held dark bags underneath them. No wonder he was worried.

Evening slowly turned into night since you had said your 'goodnight's and retired for the evening. Here you were again, sweat dripping down your temple as the crescent moon was high in the dusty grey sky as you woke up from yet another nightmare. Deciding that there was only one way to settle your mind.

Walking down the hallway, careful to avoid the creaky floorboards, you quickly realised that Luca would still be up scribbling his signature onto business letters, arranging for shipments to be delivered, etc. His office door was open just enough for you to see his coat slung over the back of the chair.

"Luca?" you croaked out as you pushed the door open, walking over to where he sat. He immediately looked over to you, beckoning you in with welcoming eyes as you did so. Standing up, he noticed the blotchy, teary look in your eyes and took you into his embrace, holding you tightly, as if to squeeze all your pain out of you. "I'm okay, it's just the nightmares again," you chuckled and he looked down at you, still wrapped up in his arms.

"You need to tell me these things, y/n. How can I help if you don't talk to me?" he asked in a reassuring tone, guiding you over to the sofa in the middle of the room. "I didn't want to worry you," you reasoned and he smiled at your sincere words as you laid down, looking up at him through tired eyes as he brought the blanket from over the back of the couch around you. "You'll always worry me, mia sorella. You're my sister, it's kind of your job," he smiled and you laughed lightly, cupping the blanket in your hand as he started to run his fingers through your hair. "Rest now. You need it," he spoke and continued to brush his fingertips around your locks, allowing you to slip into a deep, blissful sleep that you hadn't had in awhile. When he noticed the same twitch in your lips as it tried to curl into a sleepy smile, he began to stand up. "Sleep well, mia sorella. Don't worry, I'm right here," he reassured softly and walked over to his desk, sitting down before resuming his work, smiling to himself when he heard your small snores.
