Danny

"Quick, Dani, turn around!" I yelled, not caring if we were being noisy. I started choking and peered down the way we had been going and could see the tips of the orange flames lapping at the sides of the vent. I turned round the best I could but I didn't have much room. Dani was already quite far ahead. She stopped when she reached a turning.

"Danny, which way?" She called back to me.

"Go whichever way looks lighter!" I yelled, but my throat was so dry it came out as more of a whisper.

"Danny! Which way?" She called again. I caught up to her before repeating.

"Look, Dani, I'm not gonna be as quick as you so don't wait for me! Just keep going and get out of the first hatch you can. You need to try not to get caught on your way out, just run and don't worry about me! Once you're out of danger then get help! Okay?" I explained.

"But Danny -" she started.

"No, don't wait for me! Keep going, get out, and get help!" She looked back at me with a sad face before she kept on crawling. She was round the corner before I could say bye.

I was getting exhausted and my vision was starting to cloud. My lungs were filled with the poisonous smoke and my vision was going black at the edges. The fire had caught up to me and was metres away. I tried to speed up but I was exhausted and couldn't think straight. It was baking hot and I thought I would pass out. By now I was dragging myself along by my arms and it only got worse. I had just turned the corner when I felt a burning on my legs. I yelled in pain as my skin blistered and my legs went numb. The pain was unbearable and I could feel myself slipping further and further towards unconsciousness. I tried to keep crawling but the the flames were keeping hold of me and I couldn't break free no matter how hard I tried. I yelled out again but no one heard so I just laid there. My legs were burning and my throat was so dry it hurt and I could feel myself falling asleep. I heard a creak and felt a falling sensation before I gave up and let the flames and sleep take over me.
