"Did you talk to Hoseok today about this?" asked Hyunsoo. She thought she might as well ask him straight out.

For a second, he looked like he was about to nod, then changed his mind. "What makes you think that?" Jungkook was smirking.

"Look, I don't know what he told you but I just want to let you know that I was only interested in finding out about your friendship, not you specifically."

She didn't want him to get the wrong idea and have him annoy her with new things like how she must like him suddenly now, only because she wanted to know him better. However, that's not what Jungkook was thinking at all, it turned out. He seemed to have something else in mind.

"What do you mean by my friendship?" he asked. His smirk was gone and he looked a little more serious.

Oh, she realised, she nearly let slip how she wanted to figure out why Jungkook wasn't close to Jimin anymore.

"I mean, I just wanted to talk about Taehyung and Yoongi, just as you started, but I was simply shocked at the fact that I didn't have to try to get you to talk about it."

Jungkook looked satisfied enough with that answer, "When Hoseok texted me that you were on your way here, he also mentioned that you might try and get a little nosy with people, so since he's not here, Hoseok left me in charge to look after you. And as Hoseok's new buddy, how could I ever deny that request?" His smile was back again, this time in the form of a tiger biting into its prey.

"Well, I don't need looking after." Hyunsoo couldn't believe Hoseok left Jungkook in charge of her safety and sanity while she was here. She couldn't even believe they were friends close enough to make requests like that, let alone text each other and reveal Hyunsoo as someone 'nosy'.

"Course you do, anyway, shall we talk some more? I'm really enjoying this actually, more than I thought. I told you something big about Taehyung, so I'll move on to Yoongi next." He looked so excited and into this topic of conversation. "By the way, just letting you know, I'm not revealing major secrets. They are secrets but not unknown by most people here. I'm just telling you what some others already know, so don't bother getting out things that go deeper into every secret because that's where things get serious, and I value my friendship with each person more than just gossiping about them behind their back."

"Uh, yeah, that's good actually. I guess you have some humanity in you after all. Sometimes you do surprise me, what happened to the rude guy I first met?" said Hyunsoo sarcastically. She was attempting to lift the mood up again, because when Jungkook said that, she could feel him getting a little sad for some reason.

"Oh he'll be back soon don't you worry. Instead of missing him, you should enjoy the limited time you have with this side of me."

It was late afternoon, and already the sky was starting to slowly sink with the darkness taking over. It was all orange and blue around them. If she had been with someone else not having a conversation like this, she would have probably wanted to enjoy the view a bit more. Instead, she was more interested in what Jungkook had to say. She hated to admit it, but she really wanted to know more.

His face changed again and dropped all smiles and laughter as he said, "Yoongi is alone. He may not show it on the outside, but he's weak from the pain he had to endure. He's an orphan, ever since his parents died in a fire."

"A fire? What happened?" Hyunsoo opened her mouth to say more, but this was overwhelming her. She looked at him in bewilderment.

"Yoongi was playing with a lighter that belonged to his dad for his cigarettes. He was only about six or seven when he accidentally lit a fire in his bedroom... you can guess the rest."

There was a painful pause that lasted a few seconds. "That's terrible..." said Hyunsoo in a faint voice.

"I want you to know that everyone has hard times and everyone goes through something that they have to overcome. I can see that you went through something as well, and the reason I'm telling you all this isn't because Hoseok told me to. I'm telling you because I wanted to make you realise that you're not alone. Look, don't get me wrong, I still don't like you," he said, with a quick half nod and half smile at her. The weird part was that Hyunsoo couldn't help but give him a slight smile back automatically. "But I hate it when people try to escape instead of face their problems. And that's exactly what you look like you're doing."

"How would you know what I've done? How do you know I'm escaping?" Hyunsoo retorted.

"Because that's what I've been doing my whole life. I'll sniff that feeling out from even a mile away. It's all over you, which is why I want to know what's going on," said Jungkook, his voice getting louder. She could tell he was starting to show what he had been trying to hide. It was his frustration, which was confirmed a second later. "What annoys me though is, why should I care? Let's face it, this is the second time I'm intruding into your personal affairs, and if I don't do something, this will probably bug me for the rest of my life."

Hyunsoo looked Jungkook seriously in the eye. He was asking her to tell him her problems. It had been hard enough telling Jimin. She didn't know anything about Jungkook though, so how could she just trust him? And besides, why was he getting worked up over this?

"That's too much to ask for... sorry, but I just can't," replied Hyunsoo. And then, in an attempt to change the subject, she said, "I thought you were going to show me what this party is all about! What happened to all that?"

He must have noticed how uncomfortable she was starting to feel because he sighed mostly to himself and decided to let it go. They could hear more people in the garden now, and the music was also getting louder. Hyunsoo was hoping that they could go back inside again, since it was getting colder and colder as the sun was going down.

Jungkook pointed at himself with a straight face. "I am the main event," he said it as a matter of fact. "This party can't live without me. I can't believe you just asked me that." He tutted.

"Well, it's doing a pretty good job without you at the moment..."

Jungkook watched her and grinned. "You've changed. You used to get so angry, now at least you can spit something back at me."

This time it was Hyunsoo's turn to raise her eyebrows, but before she could say anything, Jungkook handed her something from his jacket pocket. It was the thing Chen had given him.
