The first few classes back at the university from then on were nothing special. In fact, it was so normal being back that it felt like the Christmas holidays never even happened. The only exciting news Hyunsoo got during her first week this new semester was when she found out that the art studios were going to be available from now on. All the students could start on their projects right away, experimenting and drafting before their final version was created. An even better thing about this was that they could come and go whenever they pleased during official reception hours, which meant freedom and space. The art department had dedicated a whole floor to the art students, allowing each pair to take up space on either side of each open room. These were rooms with no doors, just a really wide opening leading into their art studios.
However, there was one major downside upon finding all this out. Hyunsoo was told that she would be paired up with (drum roll please)... Jungkook. Yes, she was going to work right opposite Jungkook, luckily with their backs to each other, since they had one side of the wall all to themselves, but still, it was in the same studio space. That also meant... Jimin. Yes, Jimin was Hyunsoo's subject, and she was definitely going to invite him for help to do her final piece. And that lead to... drama. Yes, well, most likely anyway. Or maybe not, depending on both their moods. Sometimes, it felt as if guys had their own 'time of the month', what with their behaviour being all over the place (cough Jeon cough Jung cough kook cough).
Hyunsoo's train of thoughts was interrupted when, in the morning hours of their Fine Arts lecture, Jungkook took a seat right in front of Hyunsoo and next to Minseo, a classmate whom she was starting to learn more about only because of the way Jungkook had started flirting with her.
"Jungkook, I've missed you during holidays! You said you would hang out with me, but you never called or texted," said Minseo, pouting at him.
Jungkook shrugged but kept a smile on his face. It was one that usually melted girls' hearts, except Hyunsoo's. All she saw was Lucifer residing inside him.
"How is badminton going?" asked Minseo, keen on holding a proper conversation with him.
This time, Hyunsoo noticed a reaction that pleased her. Jungkook's vein on his neck popped out for just a second, but that was enough to assure her that he was annoyed at the fact that Hyunsoo won against him. She grinned in satisfaction. Someone's a bit salty about their loss.
He replied, making sure the smile never left his face, "Well I haven't exactly been practicing over the holidays. It's no surprise that an irrelevant other won against me with just dumb luck."
Hyunsoo scoffed so loudly, even the row in front of Jungkook turned back to glance at her. Though Jungkook himself didn't react. Hyunsoo added in a loud whisper, "Such a sore loser."
Minseo turned around this time, staring at Hyunsoo, which was quite surprising since she was usually always shy with everyone. Nevertheless, Hyunsoo stared right back, as if to challenge her.
What?
Minseo backed down, averting her eyes and looking back at Jungkook, who had interestingly watched their little stare off before dismissing them and actually paying attention to the lecture.
At the end, as Hyunsoo packed up and started heading out, Jungkook jogged his way to walk just behind her and sneered. "Enjoy it while you can. You think this one little victory is going to do you good? We're playing a bigger game than that, you and I."
At first, Hyunsoo looked at him questioningly. What was he talking about? Then it hit her. Was he trying to threaten her with his family's power? The pictures of Jungkook and his dad holding guns flashed through her mind. "You think threatening me with all that will keep me down? Boy, you're wrong," said Hyunsoo bravely, but deep down the image of the guns wasn't going away now that she remembered it. It was serious stuff.
