"I'm only seeing what I want to see, you told me," spat Hyunsoo's mother, staring daggers at her daughter. "You even went further to suggest I should open my eyes, wake up and try finding Jae myself, see what he was doing at the time."
Hyunsoo stood with her arms folded behind her back. They had been left alone in the library by the housemaids who had been dusting here when Mother marched Hyunsoo in. It seemed as though her mother had no idea of Hyunsoo's health condition from last night. She hadn't expected her to know to be honest. Father wouldn't have told her, and the maids knew not to speak out during Mother's mood swings, which was worse today due to how Hyunsoo had behaved at the birthday party.
"I certainly didn't find it at all beneficial once I did manage to find Jae. He was merely talking to some of the guests there. Isn't that what you should have been doing as the daughter of this family?" A frustrated sigh escaped Mother's mouth. "I am taking away your free time to teach you not to step another toe out of line, and I'll be replacing it with," she paused and pointed around the room, "reading all these books, however many you can until you go back to that university of yours."
This was her punishment? What a waste of time... but then again, that was the point. Punishment for talking back in this household meant losing all freedom in the house, not that there was much to begin with, thought Hyunsoo acidly.
"One more thing," continued Mother, "I don't want you inviting that boy anymore, anywhere. I'd prefer for you to at least bring someone more suitable, rather than bringing a low-class insolent little... thug." Her lips were pursed in disgust.
Hyunsoo had to stifle a giggle at that. So Jungkook had managed to portray himself as a thug in front of Mother. That was, fitting actually, in a weird way, especially considering what Hyunsoo was learning about him recently.
She was going to have to do something about that, since not inviting Jungkook couldn't be an option ever since they formed their little pact... still, she couldn't go against her mother either. What was she going to do? On top of that, Hyunsoo could already feel that the next few weeks were going to feel longer and harder to get through. It was going to be torture.
"Come on Jungkook! We're late because of you!" yelled Jimin. He was laughing, though it was slightly difficult now that he was running out of breath.
"Run faster then!" shouted Jungkook back in glee. He was running up ahead. "We're nearly there."
They were supposed to have met up with Taehyung and Yoongi over an hour ago. The guys are gonna kill us! Thought Jungkook. If only Jimin had stopped him from getting that girl's number. They ended up wasting time in a desserts cafe, all for a single pancake for the girl! She seemed familiar from one of their classes though, so of course he was going to speak to her even if it was for a little while. After all, Jungkook thought smirking to himself, he couldn't just not talk to the girls.
They were beginning to slow down now that they had arrived at the right street, when Jimin started laughing suddenly, making Jungkook turn back and wait for him to catch up.
"What?" he asked.
Jimin shook his head at first, then answered anyway saying, "If this is how you are now, what will happen when you get to high school? Excited to talk to some new girls? Not all of them will know your reputation as, uh, the ladies man shall we say?" He eye smiled brightly at Jungkook.
"Never mind that," said Jungkook, grinning wildly. He looked like a typically dressed rebel with his messy hair, even though he wasn't dressed specifically. He usually just always wore black. "Think about how many I'll be chatting up tonight."
