Dallas took the cigarette from his mouth so he could speak, "what're you staring at." His tone was harsh and cold, but he had a different accent from the rest. "Just some loser killing his lungs" I say with a smirk. "Be nice Dal!" Soda yelled "I don't do nice" he replies. I look away from his handsome brown eyes and meet a pair of bright blue ones.
"Dally is a tough one to get to know if you couldn't already tell" Soda said with a side smile. "So where you from?" Darry asks, "I just moved here from New York." The group all nod their heads curiously. "Dally here is from New York too," I raise my brows curiously and look back up at the handsome greaser now making his way over to where Pony and Johnny are standing.
"Why don't you hang out with us for a while?" Soda says. My heart jumped with excitement. "Yeah, sure" I reply happily "I just have to bring my stuff to my grandparents house first. Can I meet you guys anywhere?" I ask.
Two-bit gives me a smirk "no need. We'll walk you there" he says placing an elbow on my shoulder "you sure?" I ask, "yep! Hey guys we're walking Gracie home" Steve yells. Everyone cheers as they start to all walk over to where Steve, Two-bit, and I were standing everyone except for Dallas.
"Show us the way!" Soda yells cheerfully.
***********************************************************************************************
The walk wasn't as long as I thought it was going to take me thanks to everyone. We all talked and I got to know everyone. Steve has an obsession with cake, Two-bit has an obsession with Mickey Mouse, Ponyboy runs track, and likes to read, Darry holds the Curtis family together, Soda likes cars, works at the DX, and has a girlfriend named Sandy, Johnny has abusive parents like me, and Dallas WInston.
We never really talked about him that much. All I know is that he has a name for being the toughest greaser in the group, hes been in the cooler more than once, and he "doesn't do nice."
We were nearing my house "that's it," I say pointing to the medium sized house with a dark brown roof and a yellowish siding sitting on the corner.
"Hey! That isn't to far from our house" Pony says "ours is just a few houses away" Darry says pointing down the street "cool!" I reply excitedly.
We approach the front steps when I ask the guys if they wanted to come in "sure!" everyone says except for Dallas who pulls out a smoke "I think I'll stay out here and wait" he says annoyed. I roll my eyes and open the door.
My grandma and grandpa came rushing down from the stairs and engulfed me in a tight hug. When they finally pulled away their eyes widen even more as they finally took notice to all the guys standing in their house.
"grandma, grandpa; this is Steve, Two-bit, Ponyboy, Johnny, Sodapop and Darry."
"Well how very nice to meet you all" my grandma says shaking everyone's hands. My grandpa does the same. "I'm gonna go put these in my room, and then I'm gonna head out with them" I say picking up my backpack from the floor.
"Okay honey. Be safe" my grandma says as I walk towards my room with a row of guys following me.
When I reach my room I open the door to see that everything looked the same except for the bed that was once a twin was now a double. There was a desk in the corner facing a window that looked out to the backyard, an empty book shelf in front of my bed, and a big window on the opposite side of my bed that overlooked the road.
I place my bags on my new double bed and turn back to the guys "this is my room" I say with a smile while opening my arms wide. "Do your parents live here?" Johnny asks shyly. I felt a sting in my heart, but I brushed it aside "yeah, they're just out of town right now. They will be back in the morning sometime" I lie.
"Cool" Johnny says kicking the floor under him. "So, let's go" I say. Everyone beginnings to walk out of my room. I hear an "ow" from Darry as he hit his head on the door frame.
We head outside and see Dally leaning on a nearby tree smoking his cigarette. "We were thinking of going to the drive in. Wanna come?" Johnny asks finally looking up from the ground. "Sure! Sounds like fun. Just let me go grab my money" I say while walking off, but before I could go too far I feel someones hand on my wrist.
I turn back to see Dally. I look down to see that he was the one holding my wrist in a tight grasp "we don't need no money" he says with a smirk while letting go of my wrist. I cock my head to the side in confusion but just shake it off.
The way to the drive in was mostly Dallas and I arguing about stupid things, but I am a stubborn women, and I don't like to lose arguments. Sadly Dallas is a stubborn man and he doesn't like to lose arguments either, so it ended up with no one winning.
We reached the drive in right before the movie started. I was about to walk up to the open gates when Dallas yelled at me "hey! Stupid Brat! Not that way!" I roll my eyes and just follow the group.
We came up to a hole in the fence and one by one they started inching through it. Ponyboy leading the pack. My heart started pounding as I realize that we are entering without paying. My face filled with stress as it was nearing my turn to crawl through the hole.
I tried to calm my breathing, and steady my heart beat, but it was no use, and soon enough it was my turn to go through the whole. I hesitated for longer than I should have when a cold harsh tone spoke up.
"What? Too afraid to sneak into a tiny drive in? Too much of a goodie two shoes?" Dally says. I want to turn around and knee him in the gut, but instead I went though the fence before anyone could notice that I hesitated.
"Wow! You do have woman balls!" he yells putting his hands in the air as a 'hooray'. "Shut up Dallas, I have more so called 'women balls' then you have balls" I say turning around to catch up with the group. "You sure about that? I mean I wouldn't be so sure about that. We can compare them to see" he says with a scoff.
I tried not giggle, and instead I shoot him a "your such a kid," and with that I ran ahead to the rest of the group.
