~Jess' POV~

''It's ok Emelia, it's ok, I'm here, I'm here for you.'' I ran my hand over her back as her tears made my top wet. She was going through a lot right now and needing comforting.

''She sounded so happy in the letter and yet she died so tragically.'' She wailed, her face in my chest.

''She had a beautiful baby girl and got to see you grow up into a lovely teenager Emelia, she died happy, she'd be so proud of you.''

She stopped crying and sniffled slightly. ''You think?''

''Yes. Totally. She'd be so proud of how well you've dealt with everything you've been through. So proud. Really.''

''Thanks, Jess. I feel a bit better now. I'm glad I opened it, thanks for telling me to.'' She was still laid on my chest, but she wrapped her arms around me and gave me a tight hug.

''That's ok.'' I hugged her back, letting her know I was here.

I let Emelia just lay there for a while, giving her time to feel better again. It felt nice having her hugging me like this. Her warmth radiated onto my skin and I instantly felt more comfortable. She sat up and sat next to me on the sofa, facing me. ''Are you ok now?''

''Yeah, I think so.'' She rubbed her eyes and tightened her ponytail. She honestly looked shattered- but I wasn't going to tell her that.

''Great. Now, Miss Emelia.''

''What?''

''I don't want to put you in a bad mood or anything, but your time is limited.''

''I know.'' She cussed, agitated that I had brought up her cancer.

''Don't get moody, I need to talk to you about it.''

''What is there to say?'' She questioned.

''Well how long do you have to live?''

''Around 6 months to a year, why?''

''So we're aiming for a year, a year is a long time.'' I completely blanked her question.

''Jess, why?''

''You can do a lot in one year.''

''Yeah... I guess you can?'' She obviously wasn't on my wavelength.

''And you want to make the most of it, and do exciting stuff, don't you?''

''Um, yeah?'' She said, not understanding what I was saying at all.

I took it I'd have to spell it out or something, she clearly wasn't following, this just made me laugh.

''Stop laughing at me! Just tell me what you're talking about!'' She hit my arm, pouting.

''Your bucket list, Emelia. Your bucket list.''

''That stupid thing? I wasn't being serious, it's a bunch of shit!''

''You can try lying to me all you like, but I know for a fact that you want to do all of the things on that list.''

''You can't prove anything, Cornish.'' She crossed her arms and looked away.

''Emelia, anyone could read it and know you wrote it seriously, you don't have to know you to figure that out. You wouldn't write it if there wasn't a reason in particular, doughnut.''
