I faked a laugh. "Nice try, buddy," I said, unable to believe what he just told me.

"Seriously? Do you think that I'm just kidding?" Joshua replied.

"Totoo ba iyang sinasabi mo?"

He nodded. "Bakit? Totoo talaga iyon?" I remained silent. I ran out of words to say.

I took a deep breath. "Honestly, no. I mean, yeah, she's kind and pretty. But—" I stopped because I had to think about what I'd say.

Meron nga ba akong gusto kay Cia? Alam ko kasi talaga, wala. She's my friend. Gusto ko lang talaga siyang tulungan na gumaling sa depression... And I was drunk when I said that! I hope she won't believe those drunk words. Kasi wala talaga! Hindi ko siya gusto. I knew I'm not the perfect guy for her. And I don't think I will ever be.

Also, I wasn't in for the commitment because I'm afraid that the person I love would leave me.

"You said it yourself. Cia's kind and pretty so why don't you give it a try?"

"Ano siya? Stuffed toy? Na kapag 'di ako nag enjoy pwedeng iwan?"

"Pish-posh..." he murmured to himself. "Look, it's very obvious that you have feelings for her. Same goes with Cia."

I shrugged. "I don't think so..."

"Oh, come on! Stop doubting and over thinking things you can't control. That's a waste of time!"

So I'm currently fiddling with my phone while my mind's still having a debate if I should chat her first or wait for her to approach me. But in the end, I finally got some balls to explain all my shits. Alam kong online siya dahil ni-like niya iyong group photo namin sa resto kahapon.

Me: Hi, can I call you? Just wanna explain some things

And just like that, I'm ignored. She's online and she saw my message but she didn't even reply a single word. I'm a bit worried that she's mad at me or something so I called her right away. But I can't contact her cell number when I tried to call. I have a wild guess that she's kind of avoiding me.

"Hey? Cia?" She finally answered the call on my third attempt.

"Yeah? Why did you called?"

I stopped for a minute, with my mouth wide open. Medyo nabigla lang ako kasi parang... parang ang cold ng dating nung sinabi niya.

"About what I've said last night, gusto ko lang linawin na walang totoo doon. Hindi ko alam kung bakit nasabi ko iyon pero alam mo namang nalasing talaga ako kagabi..." I bit my lower lip as I wait for her reply.

"I understand. No need for any explanation."

Natahimik ulit ako. I can really sense that there's something off. Alam ko kung paano siya kapag malungkot dahil ilang beses ko na siyang nakitang nasa ganoong sitwasyon dati. Pero iba iyong mood niya ngayon, e. Iyong alam mong may mali. I don't know. I can't explain.

"May sasabihin ka pa ba?" she asked over the phone. "I need to rest pa, e."

"A-Ah, wala na. Sorry sa abala. Good night..."
