WARNING!! This chapter has mention of blood and death. I will let you know when that part comes up with a little * mark. After the scene is over, there will be another * mark to indicate that. Thank you for reading ^^

Midoriya's POV:

I shut the door behind me and locked it. I took off my shoes and walked into the living room, where my mom was watching a show.
"Welcome home, dear." She greeted, turning down the volume and looking over at me.
"Hi Mom. I think I found a place I want to work for the summer." I said, smiling softly.
"Really? Are you sure you want to work during the summer?"
"Yeah. It'll be fun. Especially if I'm able to get a job at the cat cafe."
"The one where Todoroki works?" She asked.
"Yeah."
"Is that your only reason?"
"Of course not! It's super relaxing there and the cats are super cute and friendly." I explained.
"Alright. You know you don't have to work during the summer, right?"
"I know, but I want to. I think it'll be fun working there." I told her with a soft smile. I walked over to the couch and sat down next to my mom. "What're you watching?" I asked.
"Oh, just some survival show. Did you know that all of the actors are quirkless?"
"Woah, really? That's so cool! How'd they find them?"
"I guess they posted an ad for it. They're actually using the funds from this show to raise awareness for quirkless people and helps provide safety for those people."
"That's amazing." I smiled widely and looked at the actors on the screen. They all looked like normal people.
"Oh, Izuku, I just remembered. Your summer break is coming up, right?"
"Yeah, in a few weeks." I answered.
"That's exciting. Do you know if your teachers are going to assign a lot of work?"
"Mr. Aizawa might." She nodded softly and our attention was brought to the TV. There was this intense scene where a character was hanging off of a cliff and calling out for her quirkless teammates. I saw my mom's eyes go wide as the scene intensified. I smiled softly and stood up.
"I'll be in my room." I walked away, knowing that she wasn't paying attention to me anymore. I opened my bedroom door and sat down at my desk. I turned on my computer when I remembered something.
My eyes went wide as I suddenly remembered something from a few nights ago. Todoroki had all of those bruises on his stomach. They looked new. Even the one on his face was new. Is he really okay?

Todoroki's POV:

I opened the door to my house. I hadn't been home in a few days and I knew someone had noticed. When I opened the door, I saw Fuyumi sitting at the entrance, her eyes wide when she saw me.
"Oh my God, you're finally home!" She ran to me and hugged me tightly.
"Yeah."
"Do you know how pissed Dad would be if he knew you skipped again?"
"I didn't skip." I protested.
"What happened?" She asked, pulling away from our hug.
"Dad was pissed. He decided to "talk" to me about being gay. I got fed up with it, so I left and apparently I was sick." I told her.
"Who'd you stay with?"
"Who do you think?"
"How bad was it? Obviously you didn't go to school, but.." She paused her whispering.
"I fainted in their hallway." I told her before she spoke.
"Was that it?" She asked.
"I felt like death. It hasn't been that bad in a while, but I know it could've been worse."
"How did his family react?"
"They were both worried. His mom even asked me to stay home with her before I fainted."
"She sounds like a good mother." Fuyumi responded, seeming to relax a little.
"She is. I bet she'd get along with mom very well."
"You think?" I nodded.
"That's so cool." She said, smiling faintly.
"Yeah." I felt my posture begin to drop. "I think I'm going to sleep now. It's been a long day." I told her.
"Alright. I'm glad you're back Shoto."
"Thanks Fuyumi."
I slipped off my shoes and set them in the front entrance. I carried myself to my room and flopped onto my bed, relaxing into the mattress. With the door shut and locked, I felt safe enough to fall asleep.

"Sho~kun?" I heard a sweet voice call to me. I instantly knew it was Izuku.
"Izuku~kun?" I called, searching for him. My heterochromatic eyes were wide as I searched for him in this tree filled forest.
"Help."
I froze.
*I saw him. He was being held, my father grinning behind him. Izuku's face was littered with bruises, as well as his scar.
There was blood running down his face and arms, his white shirt staining red.
"What did I tell you Shoto? I told you to stay away or else. You didn't listen. This is your fault." He told me, his voice booming.
"I didn't-" I was cut off by Izuku's deafening scream as a knife was plunged into him. Blood poured out of his mouth as he stared wide eyed. I ran up to him, holding onto him as my father dropped him.
"S-Sho.." He murmured, his emerald eyes beginning to darken.
"Shh, it's okay, I'll make sure you're safe. Just stay awake, please." I begged, my body beginning to tremble.
"Don't...I won't make it. And Sho?" He looked up at me, blood spilling out of his mouth.
"Yes?"
"This was your fault." My eyes went wide as he took his last breath.*

I shot up, my body shaking. I felt warm tears spilling onto my cheeks.
"Izuku..~kun.." I murmured, my voice cracking. I just sat there, crying loudly and slouching over my body. I couldn't move. I couldn't do anything except sit there and cry.
"He's right...it'll be my fault if he gets hurt."

Hey my little kittens! Sorry for such a short chapter and that sad ending. I hit a little writer's block. Whoops.
I literally have a bad habit of writing death scenes when I hit writer's block XD.
I've officially had this book published for one year! I published the first chapter on July 9th, the same day my sister got her car. I am so glad I was able to write this book and keep it going for so long. Thank you guys so much for your support. It means so much to me that people actually read what I've written. It makes me so happy ^^.
Here's to another successful year of writing ^^

Thank you, my little kittens~.
