Chapter Twenty

Midoriya's POV:

I woke up to the sound of soft squeaking. I opened my eyes and was face to face with a black and white face. I giggled and sat up, holding the fluffy bunny in my arms.
"Aww.. good morning to you too." I smiled and set him down on the bed. I got out of bed and got ready. I put on my uniform and slipped on my shoes.
"I'll be back soon. Mom will take care of you." I promised the little bunny. I walked into the kitchen.
"Hey Mom, I'm heading out now."
"Alright, have fun at school, Izuku."
"Thanks, I'll see you tonight!" I opened the door and walked to school. The walk was a little lonely since Shoto wasn't there. I looked around once I got to school, still not seeing him. I shrugged softly and walked to the classroom. As soon as I opened the door, Yaomomo walked up to me.
"Have you seen Todoroki~kun? He didn't answer my text last night and now that I see that he's not with you, I'm really worried." She said frantically.
"I haven't seen him, I'm sorry Yaomomo~san. I'll let you know if I do."
"Thank you. I'll do the same for you."
"Thanks. " I forced a soft smile. I walked to my seat and flopped into it. I watched the door as the rest of my classmates walked in, but there was no sign of Shoto. Eventually, the bell rang and Mr. Aizawa walked in.
"Alright, is everyone here?" He asked as he walked to the front of the classroom.
"Um, sir, Todoroki~kun isn't here!" Yaomomo told him.
"Eh?! IcyHot isn't here?!" I heard Kacchan mutter.
"Oh. Well we're going to have to start soon." Mr. Aizawa said as he wrote something down. "Alright, we have to begin now." He said and started writing on the chalkboard.
All throughout the lesson, I kept waiting for Shoto to walk in, but he never did. The bell rang and we were dismissed for the day. I packed my things and pulled out my phone, hoping for a text from Shoto, but it wasn't there. I began typing.
M- Hey, Shoto~kun, is everything okay? I didn't see you at school today.
I shoved my phone in my pocket and stood up. I looked around as I walked out, seeing if any of my friends were still here. After not seeing them, I walked home alone. I opened the door and looked around.
"Mom, Small Might, I'm home!" I called as I took off my shoes. I was greeted by a happily squeaking bunny. I knelt down and scooped him up.
"Hi little guy. Did you have fun today?" I asked Small Might. He responded with a soft squeak. I giggled and lightly kissed his head. I set him down and walked into the kitchen to see a note on the fridge.
Izuku,
I went to the store at around 3:30pm to pick up some groceries. I'll be back soon.
Don't worry, Small Might has been fed and has been very good all day

I smiled softly and set the note back on the fridge. I stood on my tippy toes and opened a cabinet. I picked up a can of treats and knelt down to open it for Small Might. I pulled out a treat and held it out for the little bunny.
"Do you want a treat? Mom said you've been good today." Small Might ate the treat and looked up at me with a happy expression. "Good boy." I murmured and lightly pat him on the head. I walked to my room and pulled out the homework we were assigned. I checked my phone once more to see no notifications from Shoto. I sighed softly, starting to worry a little. I finished my homework quickly and got into bed. It took a few hours for me to get comfortable and finally fall asleep.

I went to school the next few days without seeing Shoto. With every day of not seeing him, I worried more. He wasn't answering my texts, he wasn't at school, and Yaomomo hadn't heard from him either. Every night, it got harder and harder to sleep. I would stare at my phone, praying for a text from him. It was now Friday, a week since I had seen him, and I had no motivation to get up and go to school. I heard a knock on my door.
"Izuku~kun..it's time to get up dear." My mother's voice called.
"I don't want to.." I murmured. She softly opened the door.
"Why not? What's wrong? I've never seen you so down." She asked and walked to my bed. She sat down by my side with worried eyes.
"I just...haven't seen Shoto~kun all week and...I'm really worried about him. He's not responding to my texts and Yaomomo~san hasn't heard from him either." I admitted and forced myself to sit up.
"Oh, honey..Maybe his phone is dead? Or his family went on a trip and he left his phone at home."
"He would've told me if he was going on a trip." I responded.
"Maybe he was just sick. You should just go to school. Get your mind off of it."
"Fine..." I rubbed my watering eyes. My mom hugged me tightly.
"Thank you. Now..it's time to get up and get dressed." She said, letting me go. I nodded and got dressed. I looked in the mirror to see huge bags under my eyes. I looked miserable and I knew it. I sighed and dragged my feet to the kitchen.
"Bye Mom....bye Small Might..." I murmured to them as I slipped on my shoes.
"Bye Izuku~kun, have fun at school, okay?"
"Okay.." I opened the door and forced myself to walk to school. I walked into the classroom, dropped myself into the chair, and put my head on my desk. I ignored the buzzing of excited conversations around me. That was, until I heard a name get called.
"Todoroki~kun! Where have you been all week?" My head flew up from the desk and I had to rub my eyes and pinch myself to make sure I was seeing him.
"Sorry...I was really sick." He answered the curious Yaomomo. He walked to his desk and sat down. My eyes were wide with surprise, my heart beating quickly. I was so happy to see him, and it took all of my strength to keep me from running up to him and covering his face with kisses. I turned my face back to the front of the class when Mr. Aizawa walked in. The classroom was quiet during the lesson. Once the final class was over, I quickly packed my things and walked over to Shoto.
"Hey Shoto~kun! I'm glad you're-" He swiftly stood up and didn't even look at me.
"Sorry Midoriya~kun.." He turned and walked out of the classroom, leaving me with wide eyes. What...happened to him?
I walked out of the classroom and walked home alone. On the way home, I tried my best to keep my eyes dry. I was really worried now.
"Why did he call me by my last name?" I murmured. I opened the door of the apartment and walked to my bed. I flopped onto it and buried my face in the pillow. I heard a soft squeak and I looked up to see Small Might sitting next to me.
"Hey.." I pet his head gently. He squeaked at me and snuggled against my cheek. A soft giggle escaped my mouth as I closed my eyes to escape the fuzzy fur. I felt him settle down beside my face. I decided to keep my eyes closed so that I didn't get any fur in them. I eventually relaxed a little, my mind drifting off. Since my eyes were already closed, it was hard to stay awake. The soft squeaks of Small Might lulled me to sleep.

I woke up and looked at the time. It was 11:59pm and December 31st. I looked over to see that Small Might was sleeping soundly next to me. I smiled softly and sat up. I checked my phone to see that it was 12am and the new year.
"Happy New Year, Small Might." I murmured to him. I opened my messaging app and texted all of my friends and Shoto. I set my phone down and laid back on my bed, my eyes heavy. Sleep took over right as my phone got the first notification of 2019.

Happy New Year guys!! I haven't posted since last year XD. I literally have made so many of those jokes and it's barely even 2019.
I haven't slept since last year.
I haven't gone skating since last year.
I haven't hurt myself since last year!!
I haven't seen my cats since last year T-T. I miss them.

Anyways, I hope 2019 is better than 2018 was! Do you guys have any new year resolutions? I have like three and I guess they're pretty common??

My friend ak47540 wrote a Tododeku story as well! Go check it out and give her some love!! We both did Christmas themed (with the same details, but in our own writing style), but I haven't finished yet since I was working on this story.
