Todoroki's POV:

I focused on listening to my breathing, the only sound in this quiet room. My stomach had stopped growling, giving up on the hope of food. I felt heavy, but I couldn't sleep. Every time I tried to sleep, it was interrupted by Kirishima's screams. I flinched every time, guilt washing over me. Why can't they leave him alone? He can't handle this.

I was used to the abuse, so I knew how to control myself. If I didn't react, they'd leave me alone. That's what I learned. And it worked.

The door opened. I couldn't resist looking up to try and see who it was. I listened to their footsteps. The person wasn't big, so their steps were quiet.

"Hi Todoroki~." The voice belonged to a young girl, who I assumed would be Toga.

She walked up to me rather swiftly and before I knew it, stabbed me a syringe. I couldn't help but inhale sharply at the pain and surprise.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine!" She told me, giggling at the end.

Midoriya's POV:

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. I tried to reach for it without getting out of bed, but of course, it didn't work. I sighed loudly and pulled myself out of bed. I turned off the alarm and walked over to Small Might. I opened his cage and picked him up.

"Good morning." I greeted the bunny quietly. I pet his back carefully and gave him a small kiss. I set him back into his cage and checked his food and water dishes. I walked into my bathroom and quickly showered and got ready. I checked the clock to see it was 8am. I picked up my backpack and walked into the kitchen. My mom had the rice cooker on and was cooking eggs.

"Good morning, Izuku. How are you?" She asked, turning to face me.

"I'm doing pretty good. We're supposed to be working on our rescue missions today, so I'm pretty excited about that."

"Ah well that's exciting." She smiled softly and scooped the eggs onto two plates. She opened the rice cooker and put some rice on the plates. She set the plates down on the table with two spoons.

"Thanks for the food!" I sat down at the table and started scooping the eggs and rice into my mouth, the food burning my tongue a little. With the next bite, I carefully blew on it so that I wouldn't burn my tongue again. I quickly ate my food and put my plate in the sink.

"I'll wash it when I get home! Bye Mom!" I promised and slipped on my shoes.

"Bye Izuku!" My mom called as I grabbed my bag and opened the front door.

I locked the door and ran down the steps. I was running a little behind, but not far enough to have to run the whole way. I decided to jog to school.

When I got to school, I had a few minutes to sit at my desk and get my life together before class started. The classroom was quiet, but not silent. I noticed Hagakure talking with Tsu and Uraraka. They were quiet in their conversation, which made it impossible to hear what they were saying.

I turned away and focused on the board in front of me. I listened to the other students coming in and sitting at their desks. I heard the seat behind me move, which I knew was Kacchan's desk. He was dead silent. I was pretty used to it from this week. He went silent the day after Kirishima went missing. He didn't even answer when his name was called. He just stayed silent and stared straight ahead.

Mr. Aizawa walked in to the classroom and the whole class went silent. He had his yellow sleeping bag draped over his left arm as he walked to the front of the classroom.

"Alright class, we're going to spend today on rescue missions. You'll be paired in groups of two and separated in different terrains. You'll be given a certain amount of time to rescue the captured civilian. You won't know who the civilian is, but it'll be easy to figure it out. I'll assign you your partner and terrain once we get there. You all will change into your hero suits before you get out there. If there are no questions, let's head out."

Everyone stood up and walked out of the classroom. I walked behind Kacchan, observing him carefully. His posture was slouched and his aura seemed gloomy. I frowned softly, wishing he could go back to his usual loud and rude self.

We all changed and ended up at the rescue training building around the same time. Once we were all accounted for, Mr. Aizawa split us up.

"Alright, you may not like these pairings, but you just have to put up with it. Mina, you're with Yaoyorozu. Ojiro, you're with Hagakure. Jirou with Tokoyami, Mineta with Sato, Sero and Aoyama, Shoji with Koda, Kaminari with Iida, Tsuyu with Ochako, and Midoriya with Bakugo. Each pair, come up to me and get your terrain assignment."

I nervously looked over at Kacchan, who silently walked up to Aizawa. I walked behind him, quiet as well.

"You two are in the city. Please try to work together and don't destroy everything. Midoriya, that includes your bones."

"Yes sir!"

Kacchan started to walk away silently.

"But, um, sir? Why did you partner me with Kacchan?"

"You two are fairly close to Todoroki and Kirishima. Therefore, you both have the most motivation to learn. Yaoyorozu and the Bakusquad also have that motivation, but not to the same extent as yours."

"Oh, well that makes sense. Okay... Thank you sir!" I quickly ran to catch up with Kacchan. Once we got there, Aizawa spoke over the loud speakers.

"You have 15 minutes to find and rescue your civilian. Your time starts now."

I looked over at Kacchan, who had already started walking.

"Kacchan, wait up!" I called and ran over to him. He didn't wait or speak to me. I frowned softly.

"Kacchan, talk to me."

Silence. His narrow eyes were staring straight ahead as he walked, fists balled up and back straight.

"Kacchan. I know you're hurting, I am too. But use this opportunity to train."

"What do you think I'm doing?" He grumbled. He finally spoke!

"Oh, well, that's good. I bet Shoto~kun and Kirishima~kun are okay. They're strong." Kacchan stopped and looked at me. I looked at his eyes but couldn't tell with emotion was stronger, frustration or fear.

"Kiri's the strongest person I know! But the villains could be hurting him. Or worse..." I saw his hands start to shake.

"You just said Kirishima~kun's strong. So have faith in him."

"How are you not worried?!" He demanded and started stomping into a building.

"I'm terrified, Kacchan! Shoto~kun's been through so much, which scares me. I just...I just have faith in my boyfriend."

Kacchan's only response was slamming a door open. He stopped dead in his tracks, which caused me to bump into him.

"What?" I peeked around him and my jaw almost dropped.

"All Might?!"
