Shoto's POV:
It was the last day of our field trip. The days flew by pretty quickly and Izuku and I were only getting closer. I assumed that some people had ideas about us, but neither of us specifically said anything to anyone else.
It was a very cold morning, but that didn’t stop anyone. While everyone else was sitting by the fire, warming up and eating their breakfast, I sat in the tent. Izuku was still sleeping, and his face was too precious and he looked so peaceful. I didn’t want to take him away from where ever he was right now. It seemed warm where he was.
I stood up and made my way out of the tent. Once out of the tent, I stretched and walked around a little. I was still tired, so maybe a walk would wake me up. The cold breeze felt nice against my face. I unconsciously made my way to the lake. The beautiful colours from the rising sun reflected on the lake. It was a fairly cloudy morning, but the sun still managed to shine through a few clouds. I felt a very soft smile form on my face.
I was happy with my quirk’s growth throughout this trip. I think I was actually a little sad to go home. I knew I would miss sharing a tent with Izuku, but I knew he must miss his mom. I knew I would be lonely when I get home..to wake up alone and in silence. Over the past few nights, Izuku’s soft snores had lulled me to sleep. Sleeping won’t be as nice or as often when I get home…
I turned back towards the camp and started walking back. I didn’t know if Izuku would be awake by now, but I didn’t want him to wake up cold and alone. I made it back to the tent and opened the entrance. Unfortunately, that’s when a large gust of wind came right into the tent, sending my hair flying in front of my face.
“Brr! Why is it so cold?” I heard a quiet voice pout.
“Sorry Izuku~kun”
“It’s not your fault. Have you been awake for long?”
“Not really. Everyone is still waking up and getting warm.”
“Oh, okay...Today’s the last day...I can’t believe we leave tomorrow morning. This trip has flown by!”
“Yeah, it kinda has..”
“But I think everyone will be happy to go home. I know I will..I miss my mom.” He told me.
“Yeah..and at least we’ll have a day off to recover.” I answered. Unfortunately, I knew I wouldn’t have the day off when I got back.
"Oh yeah! It'll be nice to have a day to relax and recharge." He always seemed to see something bright in everything.
"Yeah.."
"We should probably join the rest of our class and eat breakfast. I'm guessing that Mr. Aizawa will be extra hard on us today." I nodded and we walked out of the tent together, our breakfast in hand.
"Good morning! Looks like you're finally awake, Deku~kun." Uraraka smiled up at Izuku. She, along with the rest of our class, were sitting down next to the fire. Some of them had blankets wrapped around themselves while others just battled the cold with manliness. I looked over at Izuku.
"We should probably find a place to sit and eat our breakfast." He said and walked with me to an empty space. I sat down next to him and began preparing my breakfast. After a few minutes, we were finished.
"Let's eat!" Izuku said and happily dug into his food.
"Alright class 1-A, are you ready for your last day of training camp?" I heard a mixture of yawns and grumbles, but only one voice stood out. I heard Kirishima's enthusiastic "yeah!" and saw that he had a huge grin on his face.
"Good to know we still have one enthusiastic person here." Aizawa grumbled. I turned to see that Izuku was still eating, so his response couldn't have been heard.
People started standing up and cleaning up their breakfast. Izuku and I were one of the last few to finish breakfast. "You ready?" He asked me.
"Ready."
*Time-Skip to that evening.*
Izuku's POV:
It was the final evening of this trip and everyone....was laying on the floor. As sweat dripped from our faces, we all stared up at the sky. Aizawa worked us pretty hard today, making sure not a second was wasted. After a few moments, I sat up.
"Hey, Deku~kun, come with me?" Uraraka asked.
"Sure." I stood up and walked with Uraraka. She kept quiet until we were pretty far away from the rest of our class. She chose a spot by a river and sat down.
"Today's the last day." She said as she sat down.
"Yeah..it is."
"I had a lot of fun. Did you?"
"Yep! It was a lot more exhausting than I originally thought, though..."
"Yeah. I don't think anyone could've planned to have worked this hard." I nodded softly. "Hey Deku~kun?" She called. I turned to her to see that she was only a few centimeters away from my face.
"U-Uraraka~chan?!" I stared at her with wide eyes as she placed a kiss on my lips. I leaned back as far as I could, trying not to hurt her feelings, but I knew I had to. "What're you doing, Uraraka~chan?" I saw her eyes go wide.
"Um..."
"I'm sorry Uraraka~chan, but I'm dating Shoto~kun.."
"Y-You are? Since when?"
"A day? I mean, we weren't official until yesterday, but we knew about each other's feelings and kinda acted on them."
"O-Oh...I didn't know.."
"You're the only one who does, so please keep a secret?"
"Yeah...sure..I should go.." She stood up, wiped her eyes and walked away. I was alone for a few moments before I spoke.
"I'm so sorry..." I looked at the river and watched as the water rapidly passed by. I moved closer to the water, dipping my hand in. It was really cold, but it felt nice after a while. I heard a crunch behind me and when I went to turn around, the ground beneath me shifted and sent me right into the river. It was extremely cold and kinda deep. I heard a voice call out my name and I looked up to see who it was. I felt myself relax a little when I saw the heterochromatic boy running towards me. I looked around to see if there was something I could grab onto. The water was up to my chin, trying to pull me away. I saw a branch and grabbed it, using all of my strength to pull me towards land. I saw Shoto and felt a smile form on my lips. He touched a part of the water with his right hand, freezing it over. He nodded to himself and inched out onto the ice, making sure it would hold his weight.
"Sho-" I called out as water hit my face.
"I'll be there soon, don't worry. I'm going to freeze the water so that you can't get pushed any further down the river." He told me and then did exactly what he said he would. He stepped out onto the ice and started walking towards me. Once he got to me, he knelt down and scooped me out of the water. "Are you okay?" He asked me as he carried me to dry land.
"Y-Yeah.." I murmured, shivering softly.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?" I asked curiously.
"You fell into a freezing cold river because I spooked you."
"Shoto~kun, you're being silly. I only fell because the ground underneath me shifted. It's not your fault. If you hadn't been there, I'd still be in that river." I told him after a few moments. He was quiet as he set me down and examined my face. I looked up at him, a shiver shaking my body.
"Oh..here." Shoto pulled me into a really warm hug. He held me for a few more moments before pulling away and looking at me. "We should get you back and by the fire."
"Yeah.." As much as I wanted to stay there with Shoto and have him hold me forever, I knew it would be better to get back and into dry clothing. We walked back together, our hands intertwined. When we got back, we let go and walked to our tent.
"I'll let you change." He murmured as I walked in.
"Thanks."
It was the middle of the night when I woke up. There was a very cold breeze and I could see very small particles falling to the ground.
"Is that... snow?" I whispered to myself. I crawled to the tent door and unzipped it. I stuck my hand out and felt the cold snowflakes land on it. I felt a large smile form on my face. It stayed there until a huge gust of wind hit me right in the face.
"O-Okay...bad idea, bad idea.." I murmured, my teeth chattering. I heard a soft grumble and I turned my head, feeling guilt if I did wake him up. Instead of finding an awake Shoto, I saw his back facing me, his body slowly rising and falling as he seemed to be sleeping comfortably. I crawled back over to my sleeping bag and picked up my phone.
"Are you serious?!" I whispered to myself. My phone showed that the current temperature was -1°C. I crawled under my thin blanket, shivering. I laid there for a few moments, curled into a tight ball, hoping to keep myself warm. I sighed softly when it didn't work, staying still only made it worse.
"Izuku~kun..are you okay?" I heard a sleepy voice ask. I looked over and saw Shoto sitting up.
"J-Just..c-cold.." I stuttered, my teeth chattering.
"Come here.." I obeyed, bringing my blanket with me. I crawled over to Shoto and blinked, confused. Shoto pulled me into a hug and laid down with me. I noticed that he was using his fire quirk to keep me warm and I felt safe.
"T-Thanks..Shoto~kun.."
"Shh..go back to bed.." Shoto answered quietly. I nodded and snuggled closer to him.
I smiled up at him and felt fingers running through my hair. The rythmic way he was messing with my hair made me very relaxed, my eyes struggling to stay open. The last thing I saw before drifting off to sleep was the beautiful boy I fell in love with.
