His Hero | Tododeku

Chapter Seven

Todoroki's POV:

He was supposed to come with Uraraka~chan? Is there something going on between them? I walked into the kitchen after talking to Midoriya. I checked up on the food and picked up a menu before walking back to Midoriya.
"Here's a menu..Oh. I see Emmi has found you." I softly smiled down at the beautiful Persian.
"Oh, yeah. She's beautiful." Midoriya looked up at me and smiled brightly. I nodded and looked down at Emmi, who was walking around both of our legs. She was purring loudly, looking up at both of us.
"Emmi usually isn't this social with anyone other than Todoroki~kun." Yaoyorozu told Midoriya.
"Then I guess I'll take that as a compliment." Midoriya responded with a smile.
"Oh, right..what would you like to eat?" I asked Midoriya.
"Um..how about a sandwich and green tea?" (I literally just tried green tea the other day. It was really good, but the milk they put in it almost killed me. T-T)
"I'll be back soon." I picked up the menu and walked into the kitchen. For once, Emmi didn't follow me. I picked up a cup and began making the green tea. While I was waiting for it to finish, I picked out a sandwich plate.
"Hey, you can sit with Midoriya~kun if you want. Since he's the only one here for this hour, we won't need the extra hands." Yaoyorozu offered.
"Thanks, Yaoyorozu~san." I picked up the green tea and the sandwich before walking back to Midoriya.
"Wow, that was super quick!" Midoriya smiled widely.
"Well..we just made the sandwiches and green tea isn't that hard to make." I returned the smile. I set down his sandwich and tea. "Hey..do you mind if I sit with you? Yaoyorozu~san said they didn't need any help and.." I trailed off looking at Midoriya.
"Of course."
"Thanks Midoriya~kun."
"So..how long have you been working here?"
"A few months. I started in the summer and I decided that it was fun to work here." I looked down at Emmi.
"Is Emmi like..your cat?"
"I wish. Emmi is really kind to me and I feel like we have a sort of understanding. She usually doesn't socialize with anyone else.." I pet the beautiful Persian cat on the head.
"I guess I'm lucky then." Midoriya smiled brightly at me. "..What's it like working here?"
"It's fun. You get to stay with cats and basically make food all day. Of course..some of us are able to greet our guests better than others.." I looked away from Midoriya. I'd never been able to greet the guests as easily as Yaoyorozu could.
"I think you did great, Todoroki~kun." Midoriya's smile widened.
"..You think so?" I was surprised to hear that from him.
"Of course! You did sound a little unenthusiastic, but that's something everyone can improve on!"
"Thanks Midoriya~kun.."
"Mmhm! Hey, this sandwich is really good. Did you make it?"
"Yeah, I did."
"Woah! I'm gonna have to get you to make more things for me. I think your cooking could actually be better than mom's!"
"Oh..thank you.." My cooking? Better than his mom's? That's doubtful. Wait- he wants me to cook food for him? I felt heat rise to my cheeks.
"Mmhm! Hey..when do you get off work?"
"Oh, uh, I actually get off at 3 today. Why?" I tilted my head curiously.
"Well..wanna go get ice cream or something?"
"S-Sure."
"Awesome!" Midoriya leaned down to let Emmi sniff his hand. She purred and rubbed against his hand before letting Midoriya pet her fluffy head.
"Would you like to meet the other cats?"
"I'd love to!" I nodded and stood up. I looked around the room for a cat when my eyes landed on Wolf. I walked over to the tom cat and told him that I was going to pick him up. Wolf made no vocal complaints as I brought him over to Midoriya.
"This is Wolf. He's usually very social with the younger kids." Midoriya nodded and held out his hand to pet the fluffy tom cat. After a few moments, I set Wolf down and found Shadow.
After a few minutes, I had introduced Midoriya to all of the cats. With each cat, his smile grew bigger. He seemed to really enjoy meeting each cat.
"Midoriya~kun, your hour is up." Yaoyorozu told him.
"Woah, that passed quickly! How much do I owe you?" He asked.
"556 yen." (Okay, so I didn't know if the ¥ sign went in front of the number or after it, so I just typed it out. Basically, he's being charged $5.)
I watched as Midoriya was trying to fish his wallet out of his pocket.
"I can pay for it Midoriya~kun." I told him after watching him struggle for a little.
"Really? I'll pay you back!"
"You can take it out of my paycheck, Yaoyorozu~san." I told her as she watched the scene.
"Thank you, Todoroki~kun!" Midoriya hugged me tightly. I felt my face turn red.
"O-Oh..sorry. I got excited." Midoriya pulled away after a moment.
Yaoyorozu nodded and wrote it down on a little sticky note. "Your shift is over, so you two can go have fun." Yaoyorozu smiled and winked at me before walking to the staff room.
"I-I should change out of my work clothes..." I started walking towards the staff room. Once inside, I looked at Yaoyorozu.
"What was that about?"
"What was what about?" She asked innocently.
"The winking thing! Why did you wink?!"
"Can't a girl wink?"
"Not without a reason." Yaoyorozu smiled brightly.
"I think you already know my reason." She told me and walked out of the staff room. I took this opportunity to change and think about what she said.

Midoriya's POV:

I silently knelt down to pet Emmi.
"Todoroki~kun will be out in a moment."
"Thanks Yaoyorozu~san." I smiled up at her.
"Can I ask you something?" She walked over to me and sat down at the table.
"Of course!"
"Do you like anyone?"
"I-I guess.." My face turned pink.
"Would you be willing to tell me who?"
"O-Oh..well I kinda like Todoroki~kun..b-but don't tell him! I don't think he'd even like me.."
"Midoriya~kun, may I give you some advice?"
"S-Sure!"
"I feel like I know Todoroki~kun fairly well, so I think I'm fit to say this. With Todoroki~kun, I think you should just tell him how you feel. He's very understanding and he may even like you back." Yaoyorozu offered a kind smile. But that made me question something.
"But how do I tell h- Oh, hi Todoroki~kun! Are you ready to go get ice cream?" He answered with a silent nod.
"Okay. Bye Yaoyorozu~san, thanks for everything."
"Of course. You two have fun." Yaoyorozu looked at both of us with a smile on her face.
"See you on Monday, Yaoyorozu~san." Todoroki told her and turned towards the door. I waved goodbye and turned to walk with Todoroki. I watched as he pet Emmi goodbye, a smile on my face. I walked over to him.
"Ready?"
"Yep, let's go get ice cream!" Todoroki stood up. We walked out of the building in silence.
"So..there's an ice cream parlour near by. I heard it had great reviews." I smiled brightly up at him.
"Sounds good.."
We walked in silence again.
Once we were at the parlour, I managed to think of something to say.
"What's your favourite ice cream flavour?"
"I like peppermint." I smiled widely when he said that.
"Your hair reminds me of a peppermint." I giggled softly.
"Oh..I guess that's true." He paused for a moment and seemed to smile very softly. "What's your favourite flavour, Midoriya~kun?"
"I like green tea, but mint is also really good!"
"Which one do you think you'll get today?"
"Hm..I might get green tea today."
We soon made it to the ice cream parlour.
"Good afternoon, what can I get ya?" A chipper boy who looked like he was about 17 asked.
"Do you have green tea ice cream?" I asked him.
"Unfortunately...we just ran out."
"Aw, okay. Can I get mint ice cream in a cone?"
"And for you, sir?"
"Can I get a peppermint ice cream? Also in a cone."
"Alrighty, two ice cream cones, that'll be 278 yen." ($2.50.)
I looked over to see Todoroki pulling out his wallet.
"Todoroki~kun, I told you I'd pay for you!" I whined.
"Oh.." I pulled out my wallet and watched as Todoroki silently put his wallet away.
"Ohmygosh, that is like COUPLE GOALS!!" Some girl who was apparently watching screeched. (This girl is my spirit animal XD)
I felt heat rise to my cheeks as she said that, but I quickly shoved my hopeful thoughts to a corner of my mind.
"Here you go." I handed the boy my cash.
"Thanks so much, come again soon." The boy smiled and handed us our ice cream.
I smiled and licked the mint ice cream. I noticed Todoroki looking over at me.
"Wanna try some?" I offered my cone to him.
"S-Sure..." He licked a small part of the ice cream. "Oh wow, that's really good." I nodded with a bright smile. He handed me back my ice cream cone. "Would you like to try some of my ice cream?" He asked.
"I'd love to!" I took a lick of his ice cream. "Wow, that's delicious!"
"Midoriya~kun..you got ice cream on your nose.."
"I do?? Where?"
"I can get it."
I stayed still while he gently wiped the ice cream off my nose with a napkin. "Thanks Todoroki~kun." He only nodded in response. After a few moments, we finished our ice creams. We we're just walking in a more comfortable silence. I smiled brightly and turned to face Todoroki, walking backwards in front of him.

Todoroki's POV:

I watched as Midoriya turned to face me, a bright smile on his face. I was looking at his face, taking in every detail. I seemed to trip over my feet and stumbled towards him. He wasn't that far ahead of me, so I hit him and watched horrified as we both fell to the gravelled ground.
Looks like I fell for him again.

Hey my little kittens! I'm so sorry that this chapter took so long to be published, school has been stressful.
Please don't kill me for that ending XD
I was literally sitting on my bed just chuckling to myself like an idiot. My friend, ak4754010 , was very concerned and confused. (Also, she's reading this book, so hewwo.)
