Midoriya's POV:
I woke up the next morning to see Shoto's text. I felt myself relax and a soft smile form on my face. At least he doesn't hate me, right?
I got out of bed and put on a comfortable outfit. I walked into the kitchen to see my mom sitting at the table and watching the news.
"Morning Mom. Happy New Year." I murmured and walked over to her.
"Happy New Year, Izuku~kun. Are you feeling any better today?" She asked as she hugged me.
"Yeah. I saw Shoto~kun at school yesterday and he messaged me back last night."
"Oh I'm so glad." She murmured and pulled back from the hug. "Do you have any plans today?"
"Not really. I was just planning on going out and looking around I guess."
"Oh, are you going with any friends?"
"No. I'm pretty sure they're all busy anyways."
"Well I hope you have fun dear. Please text me in a few hours, okay?"
"I will! Love you, Mom!" I said as I put my shoes on and walked out of the apartment. I put the keys and my phone in my front pocket and my wallet in my back right pocket. I walked down the steps and towards the city.
I looked around at the crowds and shops. Since I'd already walked around here several times, I decided to walk to the train station. I swiped my card and walked into a train going to the next city over. I took a seat and looked up at all of the signs. Most were advertising the Pro Heros and only a few of them were advertising businesses. I stared up at the screens and waited for the train to stop moving. As soon as it stopped, I got up and walked out of the train station. I looked around at all of the signs and shops. I ended up wandering for a few hours, looking at the display windows of shops. I didn't really know what I was looking for.
I somehow managed to walk into a less crowded area where there were only a few people out walking. They all looked like they knew exactly where they were going and had to be there soon. I decided to step off to the side and update Mom on my location. The phone rang for a few moments before she picked up.
"Hi, Izuku~kun, is everything okay?"
"Yeah, just letting you know that I'm still out and wandering. I went to the next city over to get a change in scenery."
"Alright, thanks dear. Are you having fun?"
"Yeah." I smiled softly.
"That's good. Let me know when you're on your way home, okay?"
"I will."
"Thank you. I'll text when I'm on my way home."
"Alright, see you then!"
"See you then." I hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket.
In the distance, I heard a girl scream. Without thinking, I started rushing towards the sound. I turned the corner into an almost empty ally where I saw a girl and someone who looked like a villain. I noticed that the villain had one hand on a boy's neck and the other threatening him with their quirk. My eyes went wide.
"Let them go!" I shouted, without even realizing it at first. The villain looked at me and smiled crookedly.
"Ah, and what are you going to do about it? You're just a kid." I frowned.
"Kids aren't meant to be underestimated, sir." I told him as I started walking towards him. I stopped and stared at the situation. I saw that the girl was a safe distance away from the villain, but the boy was not. The villain just glared at me with curious eyes.
"I think you'll find that I'm not to be underestimated either." The villain grinned and tossed the boy off to the side. The girl ran up to the boy and looked at his face worriedly. She hugged him tightly.
"You two should get out of here." I told them. "And notify a Pro Hero." The two nodded and ran.
The villain glared at me, flames burning on his arms. (A/N: Just putting this out here now, this villain is in no way connected to Dabi or the Todoroki's.)
Flames shot towards me and I had to jump up just to avoid the wave of flame. The villain laughed. I leaped over him and punched him in the face, using my quirk to help me. I felt a shot of pain in my hand, but I could tell it wasn't broken. I looked at him, considering my next moves while trying to anticipate his. I took a few steps back before looking at our environment. I saw him send more flames toward me. I used the thin ally to jump between the ground and the walls. For now, I'll just have to dodge while thinking of a plan...
I knew my legs wouldn't be able to handle much jumping, so I had to think quick. His quirk is something to do with fire, so I should be able to continue avoiding it, but I should really find a way to tie him up or make sure he can't run away...No, I just need to be a distraction for now and hope the pro heros come soon.
I was still going back and forth between the walls and ground when I finally saw an opening. I shot myself towards the villain, punching him in the stomach. I saw him grin slightly as he put a hand on my face. My eyes went wide as I fell to the ground. I felt weird...it was as if I couldn't use One For All.
All the villain said was, "I told you I shouldn't be underestimated," before he sent a wall of flames towards me. I knew I couldn't avoid it without using One For All. I dropped myself to the floor, knowing that the heat would rise. It was a horrible plan, but it was all I had for now.
I felt the heat crash on my back and I bit my lip hard to not let out a cry of pain. The burn was intense, but it was better than it could've been if I hadn't slammed myself into the previously cold cement. My eyes were closed tight as the flames passed over me. As soon as the flames we're gone, I stood up and tried using my quirk again. It was still no use. I looked at him and then decided that I would just have to run in when he isn't expecting it. I set myself behind a few tall boxes and took the moment of peace to think. I could still feel the pains of the recent burns on my back. It hurt really bad when I moved, but it wasn't as bad as a broken bone. I heard some voices and watched as the villain turned his gaze. I used this opportunity to run from my hiding place to get one last punch on him. I did, but he shot his flames at me again, nicking my cheek with the scorching hot flames. I winced and stumbled back, the pain and dehydration finally getting to me. I saw the number two hero, Endeavor, and a heterochromatic boy next to him. My vision was really blurry and faded, so I couldn't see many details. The only reason why I knew it was Endeavor was because of the way he carried himself and the flames on his body. Endeavor gave instructions to the heterochromatic boy who only nodded and started walking towards me. I watched with blurry vision as Endeavor took care of the villain. I felt myself sway back and forth as it got harder to see. I watched with blurry vision as Endeavor took care of the villain. I felt my eyes begin to shut and my body begin to fall as I slowly faded out of consciousness. The last thing I saw was the beautiful heterochromatic boy and I instantly felt safer.
