"-I think I stole a really expensive ancient vase from her family home..."
"Maybe don't bring that up."
Steve and Sam were currently at Peggy's funeral in London. I wanted to go support Steve but knowing Sam was there is enough to comfort me. We bicker like an old married couple but when it comes down to it Sam and I both have Steve's back. That's how I know to send Sam would be just as well as sending me. Natasha and I decided on our way to Vienna to make a quick, however, just to check if Steve maybe wished to come with us. I think Natasha is hopeful that Steve is going to change his mind and sign although I don't see that happening. Either boy is just as adamant about not signing. To make the document official it was decided that I'd be the last signature to go on the Accords, a presentation to the world that the Avengers isn't done with yet. Are they making me some kind of symbol? Maître? I couldn't tell you. I know I'm signing to stick by Tony despite how agitated I know it's going to make Steve. Tony and I have a bond like no other. If signing means I'm sticking by him then so be it.
"You couldn't have dressed a little nicer?" Natasha scolds me as we pace over to the church where people are beginning to flood out dressed in black.
The heels of my boots thudding along the pavement, I tuck my hands into the back pocket of my black jeans with a smug smirk "If I'm getting a leash put on me I'm going to do it on my terms."
Rolling her eyes, Natasha tells me gratefully "I'm glad you're doing this with me, Addie. We all need to stick together."
"We're holding together by a thread Natasha", I correct her quietly as we enter the quiet church "Soon enough someone is gonna cut it. With these Accords it's only a matter of time now."
My boots thudding down the aisle I see Steve with his head to the floor, leaning against one of the old mahogany pews. Sam murmurs something in Steve's ear before turning to stroll towards us. "Be delicate", Sam pats my shoulder.
Rolling my eyes I ask him, "When am I not?"
"Well..." Sam trails off with a squinted look "Subtlety isn't exactly your strong suit." Before I can argue my point, Sam's walking toward the church door with his hands in his pockets.
