"Adeline he's a child! I'm not hurting a child!"

"I'm not saying kill him with it! Just a little love tap."

"You know", Steve hums tightening his shield as we stand patiently under an airport alcove "I never apologized for how I behaved when I found out about you and Bucky."

My gaze falls on my fingers as I flex them, getting rid of the stiffness in the bones "You don't have to Steve. I shouldn't have kept it-"

"No you shouldn't have", Steve cuts me off curtly but there isn't any anger or resentment in his tone. It's just a fact. "But I had no right to react or say the things I did. I was just hurt and I'm sorry I took it out on you." Feeling Steve's hand on my shoulder I glance up into his eyes. There's no more anger there, no more loathing. There's an understanding, acceptance. Squeezing my shoulder, Steve assures me "I'm glad my two best friends found love in each other." Offering Steve a smile I can only nod, rolling my bottom lip into my mouth "No matter how gross it is to think about."

Scoffing I smack his hand off my shoulder before laying a punch into his, Steve laughing at my outburst "Okay Mr. I really went there with Sharron relative of Peggy my long lost love."

"Who told you?"

"Sam", I shrug nonchalantly, a satisfied smirk on my lips "Always Sam."

"Of course he did", Steve shakes his head.

"Did you really think he wouldn't?" I fire back, raising my eyebrow quizzically.

Smiling Steve shakes his head, clearly disappointed "I hate your friendship with him." Laughing I return my gaze to the chopper we've been staring at for the past few minutes. The minute we step out there... there's no going back. "You sure you wanna do this?" Steve echoes in the silence "I know what I said but you can still walk away. Keep that freedom of yours."

Sighing, I shake my head "I don't think freedom has ever been my path to walk." Twirling around I get the ball on a roll. "Besides breaking the law is so much more fun than following it."
