"I should've gone with another dress."

"Pepper the dress is beautiful-"

"But it shows too much of the bump-"

"Which you know Tony's going to be eccentrically proud of-"

"Oh my god, I'm going to be a chubby bride-"

"PEPPER!" I yell at her laughing from the way she's rambling in the mirror. Wandering over to her with two flutes of champagne, I assure her "You look stunning. You've put this wedding together for ten months and it looks perfect." I wasn't lying. For ten months Pepper has planned this wedding down to a T despite the circumstances of the current world. Since couples had been dusted vacancies at the Plaza had opened up. Naturally, Pepper pounced at the opportunity and I shared a small laugh with Tony about it. Trust Pepper to take advantage of every little girl's dream. My gaze trailing over the lace mermaid fit dress, I hand over the flute to Pepper assuring her "It'll calm your nerves."

"I thought drinking alcohol whilst pregnant was bad for the baby", Pepper fires back at me. 2 months along and Pepper's defiantly showing. The bump is visible, but regardless she's absolutely glowing from everything in her life that's coming together and I couldn't be happier for them.

My lips perking up, I give Pepper a small nod "Excessively. A small amount is acceptable." That, however, was a lie. A lie I'll bring her in about tomorrow. For now, I watch Pepper throw back the glass of non-alcoholic champagne. I felt bad but I figured a sense of false confidence going into the ceremony to warm her cold feet wouldn't hurt anybody. Although when Pepper reaches for my very real champagne I hold it from her grasp "Nope. This one's mine."

Before Pepper can launch into an abusive rant on how she's the bride and needs more, the door creaks open and one of the servicemen advises us "You're walking in five."

Glaring at the man's blunt words I wave him out the room before turning to Pepper whose eyes have gone as wide as saucers. "Hey", I quickly get her attention, taking her thin hands in mine. Her eyes falling on me, I assure her "You've got this."
