When the train comes to a halt Twilight finally stops talk "I was just about to explain why the ceiling in the great hall reflects the sky!" she complains "shame" Apple Jack says I hide my laugh as we get up. I follow Apple Jack off the train "first years this way!" a very tall man says the first years gather around him "Hello. I'm Discord" he bows "I'm the groundskeeper welcome! If you'll all follow me to the boats we'll head to the castle" he says gesturing to the lake "my brother told me there's a giant squid in there" Apple Jack tells me "total myth" Twilight says "Really? Read that somewhere?" I ask she shakes her head "no but I doubt there'd be a squid in that lake it's probably not even salt water-" she breaks off when we hear a roar Twilight gasps in fear "on the other hand" she says moving to the back of the group.
Pinkie smiles at me "or maybe a giant Pinkie Pie just wants her to think there is" she jokes Apple Jack, Rarity, and I laugh "that wasn't very nice" Fluttershy says before we can reply Discord stops us just before we walked into the lake "two to a boat" he says Apple Jack and I get into one boat Pinkie Pie and Rarity get into the boat next to us. Pinkie waves to Fluttershy and Twilight as both of our boats start moving "how is it doing that?" Apple Jack asks I shrug "ask Twilight I bet she'll know," I say Apple Jack and Pinkie laugh "give her a break" Rarity says "she's just trying to fit in" Apple Jack and I exchange confused looks "she's Muggle-born," Rarity tells us
Apple Jack and I nodded not wanting to say anymore. When the boats reached the other side of the lake we get out of them and walk the large steps of the castle "it's beautiful" Rarity says in awe looking up at the huge stone towers in front of us "welcome home" Discord says opening the front doors. We walk into the castle and climb even more steps we stop at the top by a teacher. "Welcome to Hogwarts!" she greets when all of us were crowded on the steps "In a few moments you'll be entering the great hall and be sorted into the four houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin." she lists before walking into the room to check if they were ready.
"so it's true" a girl says with yellow and orange hair "what they were saying on the train" she continues walking towards me "Rainbow Dash has come to Hogwarts" she says stopping in front of me "I'm Sunset Shimmer" she says Apple Jack laughs "got a problem with my name?" she asks eyeing Apple Jack "I'd ask your name but I don't have to" she scowls "messy hair, cowboy hat, and old books must be an apple" she sneers "you don't want to fall into the wrong crowd. We can help you with that" she says gesturing to herself and the two boys she was standing with "Snips, Snails, and I know the right people" she says extending her hand "I think I know right from wrong" I say casually
The teacher returns "we're ready for you now" she says opening the doors to the great hall. We all gasp looking around the room. Four tables were set up with people already sitting at them each table holding a different house at the front of the room was another table where the teacher sat watching the first year's crowd around a stool that had an old hat placed on top of it. The teacher who leads us into the hall grabs a scroll from the staff table "when I call your name you will come forward and the hat will tell you your house. When it does you will join your house at its table" she tells us before opening the scroll "Trixie" she says the nervous girl sits down on the stool the teacher places the hat on her head and suddenly the hat comes to life "oh yes very good" the hat says "better be Slytherin!" the table next to one of the walls explodes with cheers she smiles and gets up off the stool.
"Starlight Glimmer" the teacher calls "Hufflepuff!" the hat exclaims
"Twilight Sparkle" nervously Twilight sits on the stool shaking a little "Ravenclaw!" the hat exclaims Twilight exhales in relief and walks over to her table.
"Lightning Dust" "Slytherin"
"Pinkie Pie" she smiles skipping over to the stool. The hat sits on her head for a while until it says "Gryffindor" she claps with joy and skips over to the table sitting next to someone she obviously knew.
"Apple Jack" she looks at me "I hope we get in the same house" she whispers before walking away. The hat is placed on her head and I hold my breath hoping "Hufflepuff!" I smile at her fakely. My stomach fell when I knew I wouldn't be in the same house as her.
"Rarity" she takes a deep breath before walking up to the stool the hat doesn't take long before saying "Ravenclaw!" Rarity smiles happily walking over to her table. "Snips" "Slytherin"
"Fluttershy" she gaps nervously walking towards the stool when the hat is placed on her head she jumps a little "must be Hufflepuff!" the hat exclaims shakily she gets up and walks over to her table. "Vapor Trail" "Raven Claw!"
"Rainbow Dash" everyone in the room suddenly holds there breathes I walk to the stool hiding my nervousness. The hat is placed on my head "mhm right an athlete. No doubt strong maybe Slytherin" the hat says "Not Slytherin" I whisper "oh but why not! It could really help you!" the hat says "I know," it says after a long pause "Gryffindor!" I sigh in relief as I walk over to the table that was clapping. I sit down next to Pinkie smiling. She hugs me tightly around the shoulder.
Once the last person was sorted a teacher walks up to the stand in front of the staff table "welcome back to those of you returning and welcome to those who are new. I am Professor Celestia headmistress. For the new students, I would like to inform you of the teachers in charge of each of your house. Hufflepuff you have professor Cadence, Ravenclaw has Professor Luna" I notice the teacher just called was the teacher who lead us into the hall "Sylerin you have Professor Sombra, and Gryffindor you will have professor Spitfire" I gasp as she stands "what?" Pinkie Pie asks "That's Spitfire she was the leader of the wonder bolts until she injured her leg last season!" I say excitedly
"And she won't shut up about it in transfiguration" the girl next to Pinkie says Pinkie smiles at me "I totally forgot to tell you!" she says to me "This is my sister Limestone" Pinkie tells me I nod to her "Hi" I say she nods to me "you play quidditch?" she asks I nod "chaser" I tell her she smiles "good we lost one of our chasers last year" she tells me "Limestone's a beater" Pinkie Pie tells me she suddenly squeals "oh look that's my sister Marble" she says pointing to the girl sitting next to Rarity "oh and that's Maud my other sister" Pinkie says pointing to one of the girls at the front of our table "you have three sisters?" I ask she nods "yep!" she says happily
"Aren't you lucky. I don't have siblings."
