I stretch as I wake up and look to the bed next to me and see Pinkie Pie was gone. I rub my eyes as I get up and fish through my trunk for my clothes and a hairbrush. I slip into the bath room change into my robes then brush my hair. I walk out of the bathroom to drop my PJs onto my bed and get my books and bag. I put my books into my bag to grab extra paper and a pencil before leaving my room. When I walk down the stairs to the main room of the Gryffindor common room I see Pinkie sitting in a couch across from the fire. "Pinkie let's get breakfast I'm starving" I complain.

She gets up from the couch and follows me down to the great hall we sit down across from each other "Dash practice tonight" Limestone reminds me I nod "yeah I'll be there" I tell her she smirks "good we need to win our next game with Slytherin or we have no shot at the cup" I nod taking a spoon full of cereal "double potions " Pinkie Pie says looking at her schedule I groan "today?" I ask she looks up at me "right now" she tells me I sigh getting up from the table. We walk down to the dungeons and wait for the doors to open. When they do we make our way into the cold unfriendly room to face the wrath of double potions with Professor Sombra.

We sit in our normal seats as he starts the lesson "today we will be making Confusing Concoction for those of you who bothered to do their homework this will be easy for you and those who didn't" he breaks off smiling evilly "I'll enjoy watching you struggle." I frown as I grab a cauldron and get the ingredients listed "what does" Pinkie looks closer at her list "lovage look like?" Pinkie asks I hold up the bottle in my hand "It's a green plant" I explain she nods walking off to get some of her own. I start my potion as Professor Sombra walks around the room with a clipboard in his hands he looks over my shoulder and into the cauldron in front of me. "Tell miss Pie when she gets back that'd I'd like to see how she's brewing," he tells me before walking off I scowl as I turn my stirring stick clockwise ten times and add the needed ingredients. I smirk when Sombra walks over to Sunset Shimmer and examines her cauldron. "That's how you make Confusing Concoction," he says excitedly looking closer I sigh as I continue "Miss Dash I think you should see Miss Shimmer's work for reference" Sombra taunts me I don't reply as I add more ingredients.

Sombra smiles to himself as he checks the rest of the Slytherin's potions . "very good" he comments to Snip's creation that was brewed terribly wrong. Pinkie starts brewing when she gets back to the table "It was at the very back of the store!" she complains "what's that about?" she asks nodding to Sombra walking around looking into the cauldrons "don't know guess he's checking" I tell her she nods as he moves over to Pinkie's cauldrons "pity" he says waving his wand over her cauldrons . "You added too much lovage," he tells her "perhaps you should read the instructions better next time," he says evilly smirking "reread how to make Confusing Concoction and write me an essay how to make it. I want the essay by tomorrow's class" he tells her "but sir I won't have time!" Pinkie exclaims "make time," he says walking away Pinkie sits down in her chair and starts her essay checking and double checking that she was getting everything right.

We walk out of potions class completely defeated I was lucky that I made my potions perfectly and when I gave Sombra a sample of it he said it was 'passable'. I frown as Pinkie reads her book on how to make Confusing Concoction. I reach out to grab her from walking into the person in front of her but I was too late. "Hey!" Sunset Shimmer yells whipping around to glare at Pinkie "Do you have rocks for feet or do you only carry them around?" Sunset asks "It was an accident," I say standing up for Pinkie, "no one asked you wonder girl" she mocks, "you asked when you yelled at my friend," I say grabbing Pinkie from the shoulders and walking her to the great hall.

"I'm sorry," she tells me as we sit down "what for?" I ask "I just wish you didn't have to stand up for me all the time" she says sadly I put my arm around her shoulder sympathetically "you're my best friend you don't need to apologize" I tell her she brights up and digs into the food in front of her "Dash!" I turn around to see Rarity "library tonight?" she asks I shake my head "can't I have practice" she nods thinking "could we come?" she asks I turn to Limestone who shakes her head "sorry guys" she shrugs "wait Limestone we're playing Slytherin" I remind her she nods "fair point you guys can come" she tells us we smile at each then turn around and eat our lunch.

After practice, I walk out of the change room and met my friends outside. "Where are you guys going for Christmas?" Apple Jack asks "My parents are taking me skiing!" Twilight says excitedly we all look at her in confusion "It's a muggle sport" she explains

"Well I'm going to take my sister Sweetie Belle on a spa trip" Rarity informs us Apple Jack nods "taking my baby sis with you?" she asks Rarity nods "I'm taking Scootaloo too," she tells me I nod too "Apple Jack what are you doing then?" I ask she points to the castle "staying here my parents are going on vacation" she tells me "my brother and I are staying though" she tells me Fluttershy nods "Oh us too we wanted to go home but Zephyr my brother decided that we should stay" Fluttershy explains "Well Maud, Limestone, Marble, and I are going home for an old fashion pie Christmas!" Pinkie Pie exclaims

"What about you Dash?" Pinkie asks I shrug "staying here I guess," I say sadly feeling a tingle of homesickness
