By the time winter break was finally over and we found a night when we weren't swamped in homework it was a sunny spring Saturday and the six of us gathered under a tree down by the lake. "Shouldn't we tell Headmistress Celestia?" Twilight had suggested after I told her everyone "she's right darling we shouldn't get involved" Rarity adds Apple Jack nods in agreement "that's what I told her but she's too stubborn to listen" Apple Jack says crossing her arms "that's fine you guys don't have to come with me" I say standing up "I can do this alone" I tell them turning to walk away

"there was never a doubt in our minds that we'd come with you Dash" Pinkie Pie says coming to stand next to me I smile at her then turn to the others "I don't want you to put yourselves in danger for me" I tell them "we're putting ourselves in danger to help you save the school" Fluttershy says "but can we please talk to headmistress Celestia first!" Twilight begs I nod "all right but if she doesn't agree I'm going it with or without you guys."

We walk into the school and run into Professor Luna on our way to find Celestia "what are you girls doing inside on such a lovely day?" Luna asks when she nears us "We're looking for Headmistress Celestia," Twilight tells her Luna frowns "I'm afraid she's not here if it's important I can handle it," she tells us I shake my head "that's all right" I say walking away from her the girls following behind me.

As I open the door I turn around and whisper "Fluttershy go in ahead of me and play for them" she nods we had stopped at the Hufflepuff common room for her to get her flute. I open the door letting the other girls go ahead of me. Fluttershy doesn't even start playing because the dog was already asleep. I glance over at the harp "he's here" I inform them Pinkie Pie opens the trap door and we look down into the darkness. "I'll go down first," I tell them "if something bad happens to me get yourselves out" I explain they nod "is it quiet?" I ask we turn around noticing the harp had stopped play. The three-headed dog was awake and it started barking at us. The six of us jump into the trap door screaming when we hit a squishy thing.

The treelike thing wraps it's vines and roots around us constricting us so that we couldn't move. I look around and see that all of my friends were safe in this monster's trap with me "don't struggle!" Twilight yells "it'll only make it worse," she tells us stopping all movements she sinks throw the roots and vines "Twilight!" we all yell "It's all right!" she calls from below us "where are you?" I ask "Relax!" she yells at us Rarity and Fluttershy stop struggling and slip out of sight. "It's all right we're fine just relax!" Rarity calls to us. Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack, and I exchange looks and all stop struggling. We fall on to concrete with a hard thud. "Devil's snare," Twilight says pointing at the thing above us "we learned about it in herbology" she explains.

We walk down a hall way to a door opening it carefully we enter a room. We hear a buzzing noise and look up to see hundreds of keys flying around the room. Twilight walks over to the door on the other side of the room tries to open it then tries with magic. She shakes her head "it won't open" she tells us I look around and spot a broom "find an old looking key" she says I walk over to the broom "what's the matter Rainbow?" Fluttershy asks "it's too easy," I say before getting on the broom suddenly all the keys in the room fly towards me. I take off on the broom looking for the old key. I spot it and fly towards it getting cuts here and there from the other keys hitting me. I grab the key and give it to Twilight still flying "open the door!" I yell she does so and the other girls file after her I fly out of the room and they shut the door behind me.

I get off the broom and we walk into the darkness. Everything was quiet and calm until a torch comes on then the rest do we all gasp at the scene in front of us "what is this?" Rarity asks "wizards chess!" Apple Jack exclaims walking towards the board. We count looking at the missing spots "six" she says "Rarity take the queens spot, Twilight bishop, Pinkie rook, Fluttershy also rook, Rainbow" Apple Jack smirks turning to me "you and I will be knights" I smile as I get on my fake horse and we start playing.

We were down to six pieces and the other team had two. Apple Jack thinks "Rainbow," she says turning to me I shake my head knowing what she wanted to do "Apple Jack no!" I yell at her "It's the only way" she tells me I nod "you must go on without me promise?" I nod "what's she doing Rainbow?" Rarity asks I look over at her sadly and watch as she figures out Apple's move. Apple Jack moves her piece the king stricks her piece Apple Jack screams and falls off her horse onto the ground. Fluttershy screams "don't!" I warn her before she can move "we're still playing" I tell her she nods. I make my move "checkmate" I say the king drops his sword signaling that the game was over.

Fluttershy rushes over to Apple Jack "stay here with her" I tell Fluttershy "when she wakes take her back to the castle" she nods "we'll be all right" Fluttershy tells me the rest of us hug her before walking into the next room. I gasp when I see the man standing in front of the stone. Twilight gasp next to me "the Philosopher's Stone" she says the man turns around "smart girl" Professor Wind Rider says raising his wand he points it at Twilight and a ray of red hits her. Rarity rushes over to her but Pinkie Pie and I stay where we are "why?" I ask him "aren't you supposed to be smart?" he asks taunting me "the savour the girl who lived" he jokes "shut up you fool" we hear a woman's voice say "get the girl" she says Wind Rider advance towards me I put up my hands in defense and he screams in pain. The arm I had touched was now turning into dust I look down at my hands shocked a woman steps out from the shadows and I scream "surprised to see me Rainbow Dash?" she asks Pinkie gasps "Chrysalis" Pinkie says "the one and only" Chrysalis says making her way towards me "what have you done?" she asks lunging at me I grab Wind Rider's face and it turns to ash "No!" Chrysalis yells before she can reach me Pinkie jumps into her way

In a few seconds, Professor Wind Rider is nothing more than ash. "We've won this time Rainbow Dash," Chrysalis says "but I'll be back," she says grabbing my arm where my cutie mark was I hold back my pain and when she lets go I fall to the ground "Rainbow!"

I wake up in the hospital wing and see Celestia sitting on the edge of my bed "good morning" she says "what happened? Where are my friends? Where's Chrysalis? Are my friends-" she holds up her hand for me to stop "Your friends are fine" she tells me "however Chrysalis is without the stone" she informs me "professor what does the stone do?" I ask she nods "I was wondering when you would ask that but first tell me did something strange happen down there?" she asks I nod "when I touched Professor Winder Rider he turned to ash" I tell her she nods "do you know why that is?" she asks "love" she tells me simply "that night when Gilda died she gave you a power sort of it protects you from Chrysalis" she told me "but he wasn't-" she nods "he was under her control living through him" she tells me

The hospital wing doors open and I smile at my five friends "I'll leave you then" Celestia says standing up and leaving the girls to rush over to me "how are you?" Apple asks "fine. are you all alright?" they all nod and we join together in a group hug.

I let go of Apple Jack "think about it" she tells me walking away "good to have you back" my Dad says clapping me on the back I smile at him "good to be back" I tell him as we walk out of the train station "your father and I were looking at other schools for you to go to next year we haven't decided yet but we were hoping-" I cut my mother off "what's wrong with Hogwarts?" I ask "nothing dear it's just that-" I cut her off again "I want to go back next year," I tell her. She looks over at my dad "are you sure?" he asks I nod "I've never been so sure of anything in my life"
