I run up to Apple Jack and give her a big hug "I wish we could have hung out more" Apple Jack says pulling away I nod "me too but at least we have the rest of the year now" I say she nods smiles "Hi Rainbow" Pear Butter says walking up to hug "it's good to see you" I tell her she nods I shake Bright Mac's hand "would you mind if we talked?" he asked I shake my head and he pulls me aside "I want to warn you to be careful" he tells me "of course I always I am" I tell him he shakes his head "don't go looking for trouble this year" he says I nod "why would I do that?" I ask he shrugs "with Garble on the loss," he says I nod my head "I'll be careful," I tell him he pats my back "good girl"

The train blows its whistle and takes off saying goodbye to my parents before getting onto the train "Apple Jack!" Pear Butter running up to the train with Apple Jack's dog she hands her to dog and the train starts moving Aj pulls the dog into the compartment "almost forgot you" she says petting her dog we look down at her bag as it squeaks "Apple Bloom's rat" Aj explains before delivering her sister her pet. When Aj comes back she motions for the five of us to follow her out of the compartment.

We follow her into a bigger compartment where Professor Cadence sat "oh sorry girls we're going by house" she tells us "Luna's in the compartment across from here and Spitfire is the one next to us" we nod walking out of the compartment Pinkie and I walk into Spitfire's compartment where the other third-year Gryffindor's sat "so you all remember that meeting we had last year about mentoring?" she says we all nod "well I'm going to tell you whom you're mentoring again and remind you if they're in another house you still have to mentor them" she tells us "great now here's how it's gonna go. The third years will go into the hall first you'll sit in front of the staff table in your house" she tells us "so facing our table" she explains "when your person is called introduce yourself and then sit with them at our house of show them which table to sit at" we all nod "great let's recap who you'll be mentoring"

After leaving the compartment Pinkie and I go back to the one we were previously at "what do you think they'll be like?" she asks I shake my head "no clue" I tell her she nods thinking "hopefully we're in the same house" I nod the other girls walk into the compartment a few minutes later.

Once at Hogwarts, the third years get to the great hall first and we sit as we were instructed to in 

front of our house tables. When everyone else was settled into their tables the first years walk into the great hall. Some excited, other nervous, but most were scared. I span the crowd of first years wondering which one I would be mentoring. "Silverstream" a girl skips forward obviously excited "she's who I'm mentoring" Pinkie whispers to me "Gryffindor!" Pinkie stands up to greet her and leads her over to our table. "Pound cake" a boy walks forward nervously looking at the girl behind him "Slytherin" he looks fearful as he walks to his table with his mentor Snips.

"Sandbar" a guy walks forward and sits onto the stool "Hufflepuff" his mentor Fluttershy shows 

him to their table and sits with him "Pumpkin Cake" a girl walks forward-looking as fearful as her brother Pound Cake was "Slytherin!" she almost jumps out of the stool but Snails shows her to their table "Gallus" a guy walks to the stool confidently "Ravenclaw!" Twilight takes him to their table "Yona" a girl walks forward a little nervous to the stool "Hufflepuff" Apple Jack shows her to their table. "Ocellus" a girl nervously walks up to the stool flinching when the hat touches her head "Ravenclaw!" the girl flinches as Rarity shows her to their table. "Wind Sprint" Flash elbows me and nods to the girl "what?" I ask "she's my apprentice," he tells me I nod "Hufflepuff" Flash frowns as he shows her, her table "Smolder" the girl sits down on the stool "Gryffindor" I stand up and walk over to her.

"Hey I'm Rainbow Dash you're mentor," I tell her leading her to our table "that's awesome," she 

says sitting down next to me at the table "Silverstream," Smolder says to the girl next to Pinkie "hey!" she says back "you know her?" I ask Smolder nods "we met on the train along with Sandbar, Gallus, Yona, and Ocellus," she tells me I nod "but I guess we won't be friends anymore now," Silverstream says sadly "why not?" Pinkie asks "they all got into different houses," Smolder says Pinkie and I laugh "sorry," I say "their mentors are our friends we've been friends since our first year" both girls smile when I tell them.

"Sorry to keep you waiting I'm sure you're all hungry" headmistress Celestia says walking to the 

front of the room "but I have a few quick things to say" she says smiling "this year as you may have heard the dementors will be guarding every exit I must ask you all not to give them a reason to attack you" she tells us grimly "oh a more cheery note Discord will be our new care for magical creatures teacher" a few people clap at the news "and we have a new teacher here at Hogwarts" one of the people at the staff table stands "this is Professor Coco Pommel she'll be teaching defense against the dark arts" Pinkie and I exchange looks

"What?" Smolder asks "is there something wrong with her?" she asks I shake my head "no it's just no teacher has lasted in that position since we've been here"
