I walk into a giant room and sit down on the one side of the room as the boys sit on the other "the yule ball" Spitfire says walking into the middle of the room "is held on Christmas day by the hosting school" she tells us "this year it's our turn to hold it" she tells us "now each house is doing the same as you right now. They're all learning how to dance properly" she tells us "as I can not dance well Professor Luna had to show me this morning now it's your turn" she says "grab a guy or girl and partner up" she says I roll my eyes and get up.

Few people did the same but I walk over to the guy side and grab Flash's hand he smirks at me but I roll my eyes "don't get any ideas" I tell him seriously "I wasn't going to" he laughs I roll my eyes again "boys put one hand on her waist" Spitfire says I watch Flash as he puts one hand on my waist "now take her hand" Spitfire instructs Flash does so holding my hand tight. I glare at him as he smiles down at me Spitfire turns on the music "now let me show you how it's done" she says walking through the crowd of coupled Gryffindors. "Yes," she says walking towards Flash and I "now everyone watch" she yells walking towards us.

She shows us how to do the dance then turns the music on. We follow her instructions switching hands every four steps and do this three times before she stops the music "excellent" she says walking towards us "now the rest of you practice" she says grabbing my shoulder "Dash I was told to tell you that you'll need a date to the yule dance since the champions are too open the ball" she tells me I nod my head "not a problem" I tell her she nods walking away to the other couples. "Got a date in mind?" Flash asks I nod "yeah I do," I tell him

As I walk out of the room I feel an arm pull my shoulder I turn to see Angel Wings. "Can we talk?" she asks I nod as she pulls me to the side of the hall "did you open your egg?" she asks I nod "yeah why?" I ask she looks at her hands then to me "take a bath down in the prefect's bathroom" she tells me "just take some time to think" she tells me winking

I think for a second before running to the Gryffindor tower grabbing my egg then running into the bathroom. I put on my swimsuit and slip into the pool sized bath tomb. I do a couple laps thinking of what she could have meant by 'take some time to think' as I sit thinking Moon Dancer comes up from one of the toilets and flies towards me "hello Rainbow Dash" she says sitting next to me in the tomb she looks at the egg "oh Angel Wings brought that here" she tells me "but she didn't have it on the ground" she tells me I look at her in confusion "then where did she have it?" I ask she looks down into the water "she put the egg in the water?" I ask she nods "yep," she tells me.

"I must be out of my mind," I say grabbing my egg I pull it under the water and open it. Instead of hearing the horrible screeching noise it sang a lovely song "Come seek us where our voices sound, We cannot sing above the ground, And while you're searching, ponder this: We've taken what you'll sorely miss, An hour long you'll have to look, And to recover what we took, But past an hour – the prospect's black Too late, it's gone, it won't come back."

I break the surface of the water thinking. "An hour-long" I repeat "we cannot sing above the ground" I sing back then it clicks "I've got to go!" I say getting out of the water I dry myself off before changing and run to the library.

"Tell me what it said again" Twilight says "we cannot sing above the ground" I tell her she nods "it must be the black lake" she tells me I nod "go on" Twilight tells me "an hour long you'll have to look and recover what we took" I tell her she nods Twilight thinks "there has to be a spell to help you breathe underwater" she tells me "we've looked in every book!" I whisper-yell at her "not every book" Flash says sitting next to me "Professor Will gave this to me I can't put it down and I read this" he says handing me the book

"It's brilliant Flash," I say giving Twilight the book "but where do you get gillyweed?" Twilight asks "easy Professor Will says he has everything in this book up in his office" FLash tells me I sigh in relief "thanks FLash" I say getting up he grabs my wrist "Rainbow before you go I have to ask" he says looking me in the eye "will you go to the Yule ball with me?" he asks I sigh "I'm going with someone else" I lie he nods sadly and lets go of my wrist.

I walk out of the library and dash to Professor Will's office to get gillyweed.
