Sam woke up the next day and thought back to Mercedes telling him that his looks weren't what got him the job. It was the fact that he massaged her feet that actually did. That he getting on the ground and doing that one act of kindness was what secured his position. He was amazed to learn something he didn't give a second thought to doing is how he really got the job. Santana was right about doing that just revitalized his career in a new direction. After that, they wrapped up their food and caught a cab back to her place where they talked until they fell asleep.

He noticed that after he opened himself up and revealed that personal detail, Mercedes started to talk about anything and everything. He must have fallen asleep first because the last thing he remembered was her talking about the loss of her parents and her estranged older brother. He also noticed a smell beneath his head on the pillow he rested on.

There were faint traces of the scent still on the pillow as he wondered if it was just on his. Sam sat up and reached over on the king sized bed to grab the pillow she lay upon and brought it to his nose. He slowly inhaled and recognized the same scent. He mentally guessed that it was lavender and vanilla but also wondered why it was on the pillowcases.

He decided to get up and ask her but first, he needed to stretch and go to the bathroom. Sam did both in order and came out of the bathroom refreshed before he headed downstairs. In the daytime, he got a good look and noticed the brownstone had a nice, comfy, and homey feel to it. When his feet hit the bottom steps, his nose picked up delicious smells.

A smile spread across his pink lips while he headed to the kitchen. There before him was Ms. Mercedes Jones dressed in black leggings and an oversized shirt. She was humming to herself and dancing around in her bare feet. Her naturally curly hair was put into a messy bun on top of her head while she was busy making waffles and frying bacon.

She turned around to spin when she jumped at the sight of Sam standing in the kitchen's threshold. He was smiling at her with light dancing around in his green eyes. "Sam! What are you doing scaring the crap out of me?" She said as she placed her hand over the center of her chest.

"Wasn't trying to scare you." He said, still smiling at her. "I was just enjoying the view. What are you doing in here with this food?" She turned the stove and put the bacon and waffles on a plate before she carried them to the dining room table. "I am making breakfast. Some low-fat waffles and some turkey bacon. You have your choice of pumpkin latte, green tea with honey, or water to drink." She stated before she went back to get the honey for the waffles and the tea. Sam helped her with the other drinks before following her to sit down. "Mercedes, you didn't have to do this. I can eat a sandwich." He told her while looking at the food.

Mercedes smiled and started to put some honey on her plate. "You can eat that later or take it home. I wanted you to eat breakfast with me. Just relax Sam. Be yourself with me and I'll be myself with you." She said. Sam nodded and thought on it before he pours a bit of honey on his breakfast before he cut a piece and bit into it. She watched him slowly chew it before his eyes widened and he swallowed. "Wow." He said after swallowing the food. "This is great." He told her before he took another bite.

"Thank you kindly, sir. That is my mom's whole wheat waffles. Her secret was honey and flax seed in the recipe. "Mercedes said. "It keeps you healthy and regular." Sam nodded before he took a sip of green tea. "Mercedes, can I ask you something?" He said after. "Sure." She said while she continued to eat. "Did you spray some kind of lavender perfume on the pillows?" Sam asked her.

Mercedes finished eating before she smiled at him. "Yes. But it was already on it. I spray the pillows before bedtime or after each wash. It's called the Pillow Mist. It helps me go to sleep. I forgot it was on there when we fell asleep talking last night." She said. Sam thought on it before nodding. "It's okay. It's just that I like the smell and that was the best sleep I've had in a while." Mercedes looked at Sam as he looked like he really enjoyed the sleep. She shook her head before she chuckled at his expression.

She knew that they were going to become real, good friends and the videos were going to be crossover successes with his help.
