•I started walking toward the gym. Since it was Monday, my math class was always replaced with cheerleading practice, the only reason I looked forward to school after the weekend.•
I walked into the gym, to see all of the girls stretching, but Iris wasn't there on time again. "What the hell?" I muttered under my breath before walking up to the group, them stopping their stretches in return. "Hey guys, does anyone know where Iris is?" I asked sweetly. Lilia stepped forward for the rest of the group, everyone nodding at her to speak.
"Millie, the group and I discussed before you came here. We don't want Iris as our captain anymore, we want you," she said, to which I smiled, shocked. Why? Iris is a great captain to them at least. "We don't like Iris, she makes cheerleading something we're scared of. And the pep rally with you on Friday was an exhilarating experience for us! We liked cheer again because of you. So, we all agreed to make you our new captain!" She said, starting to clap her hands. Everyone else joined in, and I couldn't help but smile. But then I thought about iris and became worried.
"Thank you, guys! I'd love to be your captain, but what about Iris?" I asked with a worried expression. "We don't know. She hasn't shown up yet- oh! Hi, Iris," Sophia said, glaring at iris walking through the door, putting on red lipstick.
"Hello, peasants. Who's ready to learn our new routine for tomorrow night? I hope you all practiced the video I emailed over the weekend, if you didn't, you might as well consider yourselves exiled from the team," she said, glaring coldly at me.
"You're late, Iris. Again," Ayla spoke up, which caused the other girls to also speak up. "Excuse me, Ayla is it? I'm HBIC. You have no right to speak up. I run this team," she said, raising an eyebrow at Ayla.
"Not you're not, not anymore. You didn't show up to our most important pep rally of the year, and you were late today. You're the worst person to lead this team, and you work us until we collapse and don't even congratulate us when we win competitions. That's why we're kicking you out and put Millie in charge. She treats us like human beings, you don't deserve to be on this team. You always did put the bitch in head bitch in charge, and now you're just stuck with bitch," Lilia responded angrily.
Iris turned to me, pure fury in her eyes. I thought she was going to launch at me. Instead, she came really close to me, and quietly said to me, "Well, you got everything you wanted, didn't you. You got my team, and you got the boy." I could see the anger, but there was no hint of sadness in her eyes. I knew she couldn't care less, but I didn't know what she really wanted. All I knew was that the cheer team was not her goal. Oh Iris, what oh what are you planning.
I didn't show pity for her, she knew I knew what she was up to. So, she walked out, leaving the whole team behind. That was the last time she showed up to cheer practice. She didn't even look back. So, I gathered myself, and turned towards the team I had made a family out of. "Shall we make a routine for tomorrow, ladies?" I asked with a smile, earning claps and "woohoo's" from the girls. My girls.
30 minutes later...
"Good, Ronnie! Just like that. Okay, Ayla, you're going to carry Sophia on your shoulders, and she's going to hold the 'Go Lions' sign, ok? And Lilia, you're going to get the last flip, which will be a full turn, is that ok with you?" I asked, giving directions to the squad. They all nodded, and I continued, "Ok, so Betty, you're going to be held up by Diana, and that should complete the ending look! With, of course, me being the middle flyer, all in our ending positions. Do we have everything down?" I said with an excited smile. Everyone cheered and clapped, excited for the new routine.
We practiced the routine for another 30 minutes, until the bell rang. "Alright, ladies! I'll see you tomorrow morning at 7:30. Text me if you have any questions!" I told the girls before we all parted ways. I realized I had my next class, history, with Finn. A smile crept onto my face, before I forced it away.
I hurried to the class, trying not to waste any time we had together. I walked into the room as the half-bell rang, seeing Finn in his seat, finishing the homework due today. I went up to the teacher, "Hi, Mr Keery, I know we already chose our seats. But can I please change mine? I promise you I won't ask to change it again!" He raised his eyebrows slightly, before smiling and nodding. "Thank you!" I yelled before sitting in the empty seat beside Finn.
He looked up at me and smiled slightly. I returned it, and started a conversation. "So, what hour do you have lunch?"
He answered quickly, "I have it 5th, I have 4th period with Mr Heaton." My smile became even wider, "Oh, I love that class!"
He raised his eyebrows in shock, and his jaw dropped. "You... like math with Mr Heaton?! I'm like, failing his class right now," he said with a laugh.
My eyes widened, "Uh, there's no way you are failing that class by the end of the semester. I'm tutoring you," I said, turning back in my seat.
"When will you ever have the time to tutor me with the cheer team and your volleyball team?" He asked, shocked.
"Well, you're living with me now, I'll have time when we get home!" I said with a slight smirk.
"Ah, since when are we living together?" He said, raising his eyebrows with a slight chuckle and smirk.
"Since I decided I am never allowing you to go back to that house after what your father did to you. If you ever thought you were going back there, you were sadly mistaken," I said, turning back around to him, a serious look plastered on my face. His face softened and a grin appeared, before he brought me into a soft embrace.
When we pulled away, I turned back to the front of the room to avoid him seeing my pink cheeks. But I was met with almost everyone in the class turned toward us, their eyes wide and jaws on the floor. My cheeks reddened even more, and I turned back to Finn, to see him shrug.
Well, I guess this is the new normal? I'm not going to lie, it's the best normal I've ever had.
Whaddup peopleeeeee!!! Hope u enjoyed the chapter, I enjoyed writing it! Get ready for some bitter then sweet tea next chapter! Ok, bye for nowwwwwww!
