It was the morning of May thirteenth and Clary woke up with a smile along with a tear in the corner of her eye. Of course, Jace was already awake and getting dressed. He crossed the room to go and sit next to his wife. "Why are you crying? Isn't today supposed to be a happy day?" He asked running his fingers through Clary's fiery red hair. She nuzzled her head into his shoulder, "Of course it's a happy day! It's just...It's just...I can't believe my baby girl is one! I feel like I was holding her in my arms in the hospital just yesterday!" They both remember that day perfectly. Especially Jace. He remembered holding Clary's hand as she brought his little girl into this world. He remembered looking into her golden eyes, the same color as his own, and holding his daughter for the first time, and hugging his sister as they cried about how amazing their lives were. "Well why don't I go get our little Lizzy and bring her in here. We can have a little family morning before everyone comes" Jace said kissing Clary's forehead. She nodded and wiped away the tears.

About five minutes Jace returned with Lizzy in his arms. She had her hands around Jace's neck and her head leaning against his collarbone. When she saw Clary her eyes lit up. "Mommy!" She said with her arms outstretched, motioning for Clary to hold her. "Good Morning! Happy Birthday, Mommy and Daddy love you so much!" Clary said squeezing her daughter against her body and stroking her hair. Jace then joined them putting his arm around Clary's shoulder and giving Lizzy a quick kiss on her forehead. "What do you want to do today Lizzy?" Jace asked her. Jace treated her like royalty. Anything she wanted or needed Jace made sure she got it. "Grammy! Grandpa!" She squealed. Clary laughed, "They are gonna come over tonight sweetie! But what do you want to do this morning?" Lizzy thought about it for a while before she figured it out, "Daddy, Mommy read to wizzy!" she finally decided.

Since she wanted to read, the three of them headed over to her room. "What do you want to read?" Jace asked. She had so many books. Jace being her father and all, and once she got older she had all the books she could ever ask for in the Institute's library. She pointed to a book called 'Pinkalicious' that Maia had gotten her for Christmas. She liked it because it was very sparkly. She was definitely a true Shadowhunter because she wasn't like a normal little girl; she didn't like pink or tea party's or dress up. She more enjoyed when Clary dressed her in darker colors and she also loved watching Clary, Jace, Alec, and Izzy train. After they finished the book they heard a knock at he door, and they all knew who it was.

"Come in!" Jace yelled. A moment later Isabelle and Simon walked in singing Happy Birthday. Lizzy squealed and ran into Simon's arms. She adored Simon. "Tank yew imon!" She yelled. Hugging him as tightly as she could. "Hey what about me?" Izzy said putting her hands on her hips. Lizzy then ran over to Izzy and gave her a quick squeeze, before running back into Jace's arms. She was definitely a Daddy's girl. "What are you guys doing today?" Simon asked. "Not sure. Why?" Clary replied back. Simon went to the corner of the room and sat in the big gray chair, "Oh I was just wondering" and smiled. "I think we are gonna have a family afternoon and then we'll see you guys tonight when Jocelyn, Luke, and everyone come over" Jace said. "Okay then! Simon and I are going to have a picnic in Central Park. We'll see you tonight!" Isabelle said leaving the room and dragging Simon out behind her.

Clary had gotten Lizzy dressed. She was wearing a black and white striped long shirt with black leggings and little black uggs, and since she had a bit of hair now a little black bow. She looked adorable in her little birthday outfit. Now she was in her crib taking a short nap in her room while Clary and Jace got ready. "What should we do before the party?" Clary asked Jace as she ran a brush through her hair. "I was thinking maybe we go to the café and have a late birthday breakfast with her!" He replied back. Clary nodded and zipped up her boots. She was wearing an outfit that almost looked like gear, and Jace was wearing what he usually did, a plain t-shirt and jeans. "I'm gonna go get her. Why don't you pack up the bag" Clary said.

She left the room and went down the hallway toward Lizzy's room. When she approached Elizabeth's room the door was cracked open and she heard a voice coming from the room. She peeked in the room to see Mayrse holding Lizzy and talking to her, "My sweet sweet Elizabeth I love you so much. I wish your grandfather was here to see you. I miss him dearly. Happy birthday my love" and kissed her cheek. Clary teared up hearing this. It was odd seeing Mayrse like this. She was never a warm and fuzzy person, but having a granddaughter has changed her a bit. Clary entered the room, "Hey Mayrse!" She quickly looked up from Lizzy and smiled at Clary. "Hello Clary! Sorry for intruding but I just wanted to wish little Elizabeth a happy birthday" Mayrse replied back. Clary smiled, "Oh your not intruding! And that's so sweet. We were just about to head out and take her down to the café for some breakfast" Mayrse stood up and handed Lizzy to Clary, "Well, don't let me keep you waiting!" And quickly gave Lizzy another quick kiss, then left the room.

At the café Lizzy was eating a muffin and it was all over her face. Clary and Jace laughed at their daughter as they watched her eat. "We should go back. My parents are going to be back soon" Clary said. "Okay" Jace said and took the muffin away from Lizzy. He then wiped all of the muffin off of her face and lifted her out of the high chair. They left the café with Jace holding Lizzy in one arm and his other hand in Clary's.

When they got back Isabelle greeted them at the door with a enormous smile on her face. Clary thought she also saw something glistening on her finger. "Clary! Where have you guys been? I have really big news!" Izzy said. "We were down the street. What is it Iz?" Clary asked. "Simon asked me to marry him!" She said and then let out a high pitched scream. Clary's jaw dropped and Jace had a stern look on his face, but he managed a small smile. "That's amazing Izzy! Congratulations!" Clary said and hugged Isabelle. "Congrats Iz," Jace said, "Where is Simon? I need to talk to him" Isabelle pointed toward the kitchen. Jace then handed Lizzy to Clary and walked into the kitchen.

"Hey Jace! Surprise!" Simon said when Jace entered the room. "Hi," Jace said dryly, "You better treat my little sister like she is royalty. And if I ever find out you have hurt her...well you know what will happen" And shot Simon a quick smirk. Simon finally spoke up, "Oh god am I gonna get this from Alec too?" He asked. Jace smiled. "I will never hurt Izzy and you know that. And I think if I did ever hurt her, which I wont, she would probably beat me up personally" Simon said. He then held out his hand for a handshake, Jace took his hand and shook.

About a half hour later Jocelyn and Luke arrived. They came into the living room and said hello to everyone. Luke then lifted Lizzy from the floor, "Happy Birthday precious!" And kissed her. She giggled, she loved when Luke called her precious. Jocelyn then took her from Luke's arms and wished her a happy birthday as well. They then heard the sound of the door opening and a flood of voices. "Looks like everyone is here!" Clary said and went to greet all of their guests. "Hey everyone" she said. She counted four people; Maia, Aline, Helen, and Emma. Emma was the first to speak, "Hey Clary!" She said and hugged her and Lizzy. Then Maia came up and said, "Oh my god! I've missed you guys! Happy Birthday Lizzy!" And picked up Lizzy. She kissed her cheek and tickled her. Lizzy laughed and started squirming. Everyone eventually went into the living room and played with Lizzy. After almost two hours Jocelyn and Luke came in holding a cake that said 'Happy Birthday Lizzy' in purple. Everyone started singing and she sat on Jace's lap when it was time to blow out the candles.

We, once again, all laughed as she ate half her cake and then the other half was on her face. We then opened presents. She was more interested in the boxes and wrapping paper than the actual presents. By the end of the day she had gotten a lot of clothes, toys, and books. At about seven o'clock everyone filed out and left Clary, Jace, and Lizzy sitting on the couch. "Well if say that was a successful first birthday, huh Lizzy?" Jace said. She nodded and nuzzles into Clary's chest.

Jace then brought her up to her room and put her to sleep. After he had finally gotten her to actually get to sleep he went back to Clary and his room where she was curled up in a ball under the blankets. "I love our life!" Clary said as Jace slid into bed next to her. "Me too" he replied back. He then put his arms around Clary and they both drifted off to sleep with smiles on their faces.
