Since Lizzy was getting older and Clary and Jace would eventually like to get their own place to live they decided it was time to get jobs. Today Clary and Jace were going to have interviews and Lizzy was going to have her first day of daycare. Clary and Jace had been looking for jobs for months and they finally found them. Clary was going to an interview for an interior designer job and Jace was going to be a fitness instructor at the gym around the corner. As soon as Clary woke up Lizzy she was upset. She didn't like the idea of being away from them for four hours. Clary would say things like, "It's okay sweetie, you'll love it!" But nothing worked. All she wanted was Jace. After an hour or so they were out the door and on their way. Lizzy walked with Jace and Clary on either side of her to daycare. When they arrived things got rough again. She cried and cried and cried. Finally they got her to go by telling her to go and read the books. Quickly, Jace and Clary left the room, Jace almost dragging Clary away. "But what if she doesn't like it. What if something happens or-" That's where Jace cut her off. "Listen were all doing new things today Clary. You think I like leaving my little girl with people I don't know for the first time, cause I don't. But, we'll get through it...together" Jace said in a calm voice. He then wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye and gently kissed her forehead. Clary rested her head on Jace's shoulder and put her arms around his waist, "I love you" Once they finally broke Clary took Jace's hand and walked out the door.
"What time is your interview?" Jace asked. He wanted to change the subject from Lizzy because he knew Clary still haden't completely recovered. "It's at twelve. I have to go home get changed and then then I have to go" Clary said, she sounded stressed. As they turned the corner they saw Isabelle and Simon walking down the steps, laughing and holding hands. "Hey!" Simon called. Clary rolled her eyes, she didn't have time to talk. She had to get ready for her interview. "Hey Simon. I really can't talk, I have and interview and-" Simon smiled at her. "An interview? Wow Fray, doing good for yourself I see" He said slyly. "Shut up Simon, gotta make money somehow. You'll understand when you have kids" She then looked over at Izzy and ran up the Institute stairs after Jace.
"What took so long out there?" Jace asked. Clary sighed and threw her bag and jacket on the bed, "Stupid Simon, you know how he likes to talk" Jace cringed at his name. He still wasen't too thrilled with the idea of Simon and Izzy getting married, especially because Simon haden't told him he was going to propose until after he actually did it, "Ya I know" Clary chuckled and walked into the bathroom. She quickly undressed and went into the shower. The water rolling down her skin felt nice against her skin that had just been exposed to the cold November air. After washing her hair and body she got out of the shower and blow dried her hair. She had already picked out a a outfit for her interview, accesory's and all: it was a black knee length dress with heeled black boots and a baby blue colored cropped jacket. She also had on a long, solid gold, necklace with a angelic rune pendant hanging off the end. "You look great" Jace said when he saw Clary walk out of their closet. "Thanks, but I gotta go! Good luck!" She said. She grabbed a black purse and kissed Jace one last time before walking out the door.
When she arrived at her office the name was 'S and E Design'. Clary was hoping she would get this job because it paid well and her and Jace planned on getting a place of their own at some point. When she walked in the place seemed very warm, bright colors were everywhere and they all fit perfectly together. "Hello! Can I help you?" A woman sitting behind the desk said. She had short blond hair and blue diamond eyes, she was beautiful. "Um..Yes! I'm here for an Interview with.." Clary quickly looked down at her slip of paper that had the name and address on it, "A Mrs. McNally?" The woman looked down at her computer and smiled, "Yes! Here you are Mrs. Herondale. My name is Clare, it was a pleasure meeting you! Mrs. McNally is waiting for you right through that door" She pointed at a door down on the left side of the hall. Clary smiled and thanked Clare before walking into the interview that could change her life.
When she entered the room a woman was sitting in a large black love seat. "Mrs. Herondale?" She said. The woman had dark black hair, almost like Izzy and Alec's, and beautiful grey eyes. "Yes! You must be Mrs. McNally!" Clary said crossing the room to shake her hand. "Yes, but please call me Allison!" Clary smiled. "And please call me Clary!" She motioned for Clary to sit down on the matching chair across from her. "So to start, what got you into interior design and do you hae any experience?" Allison said. Clary pulled her hair behind her neck and began, "Well my mother is an artist and I've recently enjoyed painting different room designs and sketches. Also, I have some experience. I helped a couple of friends design their appartments" Allison was listening and taking notes as Clary spoke. "That's excellent! I only have a few more questions and then your good to go!" Allison stated looking down at her fancy clipboard. Clary braced herself from the upcoming questions which she was dreading, since she was already extremly nervous

"Well Jace you seem to be in great shape yourself! We just need to see how you work with clients and then you can be on your way" Jason the owner of the gym said. Jace didn't really like the idea of Jason watching him, but you gott do what yo gotta do. "So what should I do?" Jace asked. "Well today you'll be working with a free gym class, which is where the people do what they choose and you just assist them if they need help or don't know how to use a machine. Easy enough!" Jason said studying his clipboard. Jace snickered, 'Easy Enough' he thought to himself.
Twenty minutes later Jace was in a room filled with men and women using a variety of machines. He was told that if a man or woman raises their hand that is sign that they need assistance. Jace walked around greeting people and encouraging them. A few minutes later a older man raised his hand. Jace was over to him in a matter of seconds, "What can I do to help you Sir?" Jace asked putting a smile on his face. "How do I turn it on son? I'm new to all of this modern day technology all you kids use" The man asked. Jace chuckled, "Right here sir you press the green button and then pick an intensity level from one to ten" The man smiled and gave Jace a pat on the back. During the remainder of the hour Jace helped about three or four more people.
"You did a nice job here today Jace!" Jason said as Jace reached the door, "I'll give you call within the next couple of days" Jace smiled and left, confident he did the best he could.

Jace and Clary arrived home at about same time. As soon as Clary saw Jace her eyes lit up. It was like the first time she laid eyes on him, of course after she realized he wasn't a cold blooded murder. She ran into his arms and Jace swiftly caught her. He spun her around and then gently placed her back on the ground. He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her. When he broke away his eyes were twinkling and he had a smirk on his face. He took her hand and they headed toward the daycare center, "I love you Clary Fray," He said. "Now let's go get our little girl"
When Clary and Jace arrived at the school Lizzy was, yet again, in the corner of the room reading a book. She was so deep in thought when they walked in that she didn't even notice them. Right as Clary opened her mouth to call Lizzy over a woman appeared in front of her, "Hello! I'm Ms. Amanda, you must be Elizabeth's parents!" Clary looked at Jace and then turned back to the woman. She was very petite and had beautiful blond hair. "Er..Yes we are? Is something wrong" Clary asked a bit nervously. Amanda giggled, "No, of course not! Elizabeth is an angel! I just wanted to tell you that she spent most of the day with another little boy named Luke, and they read together!" Clary smiled. She thanked Ms. Amanda for filling her and Jace in and then called Lizzy over, "Lizzy sweetie!" It took her a few moments to realize who it was. But when she did she dropped the book and ran into Jace's arms, "Daddy! Mommy!" She squealed. Jace held her tightly and then placed her back on the floor. "I make a friend named wuke!" She said. She then ran to the other side of the room to gather her things. Jace and Clary laughed at their baby girl. Jace then put his arm around Clary's waist and pulled her in a little closer to his side.
After ten minutes of Lizzy showing Clary and Jace all around her room they were out the door. Clary and Jace on either side of Lizzy as a sort of protective barrier. "Well," Jace said. "Looks like we all tried something new today!" And they continued walking holding hands like a little family from a fairy tale. But to Clary she was in her own little fairy tale.
