Jace and Clary- Their Future

A New Friend

As Clary was walking out the door to take Lizzy to daycare and go to work she got a phone call from Maia. "Hello?" Clary said. "Uh...Hey Clary I was wondering if you, Jace, and Lizzy wanted to come over to my apartment tonight. You know just to uh....hang out?" Maia replied back. She also didn't seem like she usually did she sounded...happier. "Sure Maia! What time?" She said trying to keep track of Lizzy. "How about six! I have to go know bye!" And she hung up the phone. Clary shrugged and then continued to help Lizzy down the stairs. As they walked down the street to Lizzy's school she talked about how her and Luke were going to play house at school today. "That's nice sweetie, have fun at school!" Clary said. She brought Lizzy to her class and then left to go to work. 

"Hey Clare! Sorry I'm late Lizzy was slow this morning!" Clary said when she entered her office. Clare smiled at her, "No problem Clary, we all have those morning's! Grace and Thomas are like that all the time!" Clary was relived she had someone at work with her who understand and was as easy to talk to to as Clare was. "Oh and Clary!," Clare said right before she turned the corner. "Yes?" Clary responded. "Mrs. McNally wanted to see you!" Clary said and then went right back to work. Clary quickly placed her jacket and bag in her office and then headed down to Mrs. McNally's office. "Hi Allison, Clare said you wanted to see me?" Clary whispered in case she was on the phone. Allison looked up from her desk and smiled, "Oh yes! How are you this morning Clary?" She said. "I'm good thanks. What was it Clare said you wanted to talk to me about?" Clary said. She wanted to get out of here quickly because she wanted to start working on her latest project. She was helping out Luke's mom redesign their new master bedroom. Allison finally spoke, "Well I have noticed that you are doing really well and all of your clients love you so I thought I would give you a raise! i also knew that you and your husband were planning on getting a house so this could also help with that!" Clary was so stunned she didn't know what to say. Her and Jace had been looking at houses for month's and couldn't find anything they liked in their price range. But now that could all change. "I..I..Thank you so much Allison! You have no idea how much this means to Jace and I!" Clary finally spoke. "Your welcome Clary! Now get to work before I change my mind!" They both managed a laugh and then Clary spun out of the room to go to her office. 

As soon as Clary got into her office and settled in she called Jace. It rung about four times before he picked up, "Hello?" Clary gasped and started to go on and on about how Allison gave her a raise and how they can finally buy the house of their dreams. Clary felt like she could feel the warmth of Jace's smile through the phone. "Hey Clary?" Jace said after she finished. "Ya?" She replied back. "I got promoted today as well, to manager of all new instructors, Which means I also get a higher pay!' Jace said. Clary teared up, "Which means we can buy that house in Massachusetts we loved! Oh Jace this is my dream come true!" Jace laughed, "I love you but I have to go" Clary sighed, "Love you too..Oh Jace wait we are going to Maia's apartment at six!" He tried to hide a sigh but she could hear it anyway, "Okay bye" He finally said, and then hung up the phone. 

All day Clary kept thinking about how she was going to design her own home, while she was designing Luke's home. She finally had three different options planned out for the Taylor's home; one was a more modern look, the second was more old fashioned, and the third was a mix of the two. Personally, Clary liked the more old fashion looking one but, of course, it wasen't her home. By the time she had sent out an email to mrs. Taylor and she got all of her things organized it was time for her to go and pick up Lizzy. On her way out she made sure that she said thank you to Allison one last time, even though she had already thank her like twenty times, and said goodbye to Clare. 

When Clary arrived at the school Lauren Taylor was there talking to Luke and Lizzy. She was reading them a book that the two of them had read at least fifty times. "Your reading that one again?" Clary asked them when she walked in the room. "Mommy!" Lizzy said and then ran to give Clary a hug. "Hey Clary how are you?" Lauren said when she saw her. "Good thanks! Just finished up some designs for you guys at work today. I sent you an email about it!" Clary responded back. The two mom's talked for a while until Lauren and Luke had to leave because they had to go meet up with Luke's dad. "See you later guys!" Lauren said as she exited the room. As soon as they left Lizzy went and got her things so that they could go meet Jace at home before they went to Maia's. On the way out Clary told Lizzy about how they were going to see Maia tonight and that she had to be good while she was at her house. 

After a while Clary and Lizzy made it back to the Institute. They stripped off their jackets and boots and then went to find Jace. When Clary saw Jace she gave him a huge hug and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "You ready?" Clary asked him when she pulled away. He nodded and then scooped up Lizzy into his arms. 

On the way to Maia's apartment Lizzy talked to the taxi driver about her best friend Luke the whole time. Every once in a while she would say something funny or cute and Clary and Jace would laugh. When they got to the apartment Jace let Lizzy pay the driver. he gave her a high five and then shut the door behind her. The three of them walked into the building and went to the fifth floor, where Maia's apartment was located. As soon as they got to her apartment Lizzy buzzed them in and then waited for Maia to open the door. When Maia opened the door she looked nervous, "Hi guys er.....come on in!" Lizzy then Clary then Jace filed in and greeted Maia. But, when Clary turned around she noticed a figure leaning against the wall staring in their direction. He was tall and handsome, he had dark black hair and blue gray eyes. Clary looked at him and then turned to Maia, "Uh Maia, who it that?" And she pointed in the figures direction. Maia looked between them and then walked in the guys direction. When she got close enough to her he put his arm around her and smiled. "This is Justin guys. He's my...boyfriend!" She said softly and then looked back up at him with a smile. 

Clary was shocked. She didn't think Maia would ever get over Jordan, but apparently she was wrong. The way she looked at him, it was the same way she had looked at Jordan. "Um..Hey!" Jace said and then shook Justin's hand. "Hey, I'm Justin. I moved here a couple months ago from Boston. It's nice to meet you!" Justin said and then gave Clary a hand shake as well. He then crouched down and introduced himself to Lizzy who automatically gave him a hug. "Well I made dinner! Why don't Justin, Jace, and Lizzy go and sit while me and Clary get plates ready!" Maia said. Clary nodded in agreement and headed into the kitchen.

"So um...when did this happen?" Clary said as soon as her and Maia were alone. Maia blushed, "We started dating about three moths ago and everything is perfect. I mean I couldn't ask for anything better!" Clary noticed a bit of hesitation in her voice and she knew why, Jordan. "And now he's moving in!" Maia continued. Clary looked shocked. Did he know her secret? "Well Maia I don't know...Does he know your a uh...werewolf?" Clary said trying not to sound too harsh. "See that's the thing!" Maia said as she lit up with enthusiasm. "He's a werewolf too and knows about everything! I bet him and Jace are talking about their hatred for vampires or something like that right now!" She said. They both laughed and then they hugged. "But really Maia," Clary stated, "I am really happy for you!" 

"Who's hungry?" Maia said as she brought out the pasta and meatballs that she had made. It was Justin's favorite. "Me!" Jace and Justin said in unison. Clary sat down in the middle of Jace and Lizzy and Maia took the seat next to Justin. "So what were you boy's talking about?" Clary said when she sat down. "Oh Jace was just showing me his stele. I was interested, I have never actually seen one before? Do you have one too?" Justin asked. Clary reached into the side of her boot and pulled out her stele, "You never know when your gonna need it!" Justin laughed and continued to eat his dinner. They all enjoyed themselves even Lizzy who seemed to love Justin. Clary like this, being able to talk about her world without hiding things from the mundanes. For the rest of the night they got to know Justin a little better, and learned to like him very much. But at around eight thirty they had to leave because Lizzy was falling asleep at the table, almost putting her face in her ice cream. "Thanks so much for having s over!" Clary said as they left. "Anytime!" Maia said and then closed the door behind her. "Well I like him" Jace said as they walked down the stairs. "Me too!" Clary replied, and they opened the door to feel the cold December air against their skin.
