The person slammed into me causing us both ro go rolling across the forest floor. I came to a stop, ignoring the pain from the hit i pushed myself off the ground to run, but the person grabs me again and i struggle to break free.
"Duck," Sam yells. I do as i was told right away, and just in time to. Because Sam delivered a hard punch to my attacked, causing the man to fall to the ground with one hit. Sam caught me before i fell as well and we kept running. We reached a dark part of the woods where you could only see a few feet in front of you. So we took the time to rest. Both of us were out of breath, this plan was for sure not one of the best ideas, but it got Josh the help he needed which was all i was worried about.
"Are you alright?" Sam says with a lot of concern as he looks ar my bleeding arm. I snagged it on some sticks as i rolled, but it was nothing major. the pain in my side was all i was worried about, but i wasn't going ot tell Sam about it.
"Yeah, just a small cut nothing bad," i say as i get my berating back. I watch as Sam looks around.
"Looks like we are clear...So was your plan still a good idea," he teases. I glare at him playfully and we start walking.
"Hey, i was more concerned about Josh being in good hands. They can't hurt him there, and he can get help," I say. Sam shakes his head at me.
"Our job is to protect you and Cole, Molly, Talia, and the others. Not you protect us. That plan could have got you killed," he says making me stop for a moment and look at him.
"I never asked for anyone's protections Sam. I didn't even know about any of this until last night. You think i want people risking their life to protect me? Because i sure as hell don't want that blood on my hands, not my friends, not people i care and love," i say getting upset.
"Your father gave the orders....I volunteered for this not because they made me, but because i can't stand the thought of you being hurt or killed. You have no idea what this job means to me," he says getting closer to me. We were both clearly upset and mad at this point.
"Well did you ever stop and think how i would feel if you got hurt Sam?" i blurted out in anger then covered my mouth and looked away. Did i really just say that, to Sam of all people?
"My job," he says then pauses and speaks more softer, "Is to protect you with my life. and you making these dangerous plans isn't making my job any more easier," he says looking at me deeply.
"All i wanted was Josh to be somewhere safe.. Did i know it was probably going to be dangerous, yes. But do i care, no because Josh was my main concern at that point," I say holding back tears. Why are we fighting about this anyways. I hear him sigh then he carefully grabs my chin and turns my face so i was looking at him.
"You make my life so difficult Cassidy," he whispers looking into my eyes. I smile a little.
"Making up for lost time," i tease making him chuckle a little. Another snap of a twig makes us both look. Sam pushes me behind him as we listen. Jade comes running up. I get on my knees and hug her.
"Jade, good girl," i say petting my dog. She was old but had the energy of a puppy. Lexi was behind her, i hugged her too.
"Wow, they made it out of that war in your house," Sam says petting Lexi on the head. I stand up and notice something tied to Jade's collar. I bend back down and take it off.
"What is it?" Sam asked looking at me as i stare intensely at it.
"My mom and dads necklaces," i say running my thumb over the charms on both of them. My mom told me that the charms stand for something important. "Sam, this is the gangs symbol isn't it," i say looking at the small tattoo on his wrist. Sam was a part of the gang all along, not just someone to protect me. They had it going still, that's why my parents were gone days at a time and i could never know where they were.
"Cass let me explain," he begs knowing i am upset.
"You all lied," i say knowing Cole and Keegan have the same tattoos. "You all were int his gang, and knew my parents were still running it and never cared to tell me? What else are you keeping from me?" I asked backing away from him. Lexi and Jade were by my side, they growl because when i let off a certain vibe they know something is wrong.
"We aren't keeping anything from you... Cole told me that you already knew about the gang when i started back in school. I had no idea they never actually told you. I was just doing my job. You have to believe me Cassidy," he begs me stepping toward me. I back up again and Lexi lets off a nasty growl.
"How do i know you won't hurt me? That you aren't part of that other gang?" i question him and he looks at me like i was crazy.
"Are you being serious Cass? Why would i be here if i was on the other gang. I would have killed you already," he says making me relax a little.
"I'm sorry, i don't like liars," i whisper. Lexi and jade relax now that i am calm so Sam takes the chance to walk over, then something totally unexpected happens.......
