As we walked through the woods, well as Sam walked, I looked around. It was still fall, so leaves were changing colors and it was beautiful. How could something this beautiful exsit in such a horrible world? It was funny, out here it is so peaceful and pretty, where as back in town it is so dull and boring. I missed home, not lying right now. I missed my house i grew up in, my family, my friends. I want this all to be over with soon, so that things with Sam can go back to normal, he would get to go to school and have his friends back.
"That pretty little mind is thinking again," Sam jokes making me smile a little. I run my fingers through his hair, messing it up making him groan.
"Isn't it beautiful out here?" I told him as he stops and sets me down carefully to look around. He smiles and looks back at me.
"Everything out here is beautiful," he says without taking his eyes off me. I smile and look to the right, where a fox was looking at us.
"Look," I say in a cheerful tone. This beautiful creater was so close, it was amazing.
"A fox," Sam says bending down to its level. The fox keeps walking like we weren't even there at all we watch it until it is out of sight.
"Sam look," I say pointing to a cabin to the left. Sam gets back up and looks at it with a weird look.
"Think that is it?" He asked me and I nod, i knew it was because i mean come on, who else would have a cabin this far out.
"Let's go," I say hopping on his back again as he approches the house.
"CASSIDY!" Maria says as she runs out the door with open arms. Sam sets me down and i hug my friend. She has been missing from the group for awhile now.
"Oh my gosh, we thought you were a goner," I teased her making her laugh. We follow her inside where I was surprised to be greeted by Josh. Sam looked more relieved than me tho. They bro hugged it out and Josh hugged me.
"Thank you Cassidy," he says letting me go. I smile and look at him weird.
"For what?" I asked confused. He lifts his shirt to where his stitches are.
"Doctors said if you hadn't of taken the bullet out back at the other cabin i wouldn't have made it, so thank you," He says making me hug him again.
"You scared us bro," Sam adds on as we sit in the living room. Josh laughs and punches his arm.
"Can't kill me off just yet kid," he jokes making Sam laugh again.
"Where's Cole?" My dad's voice rings through my ears. I turn my head toward the front door and there he was, all dirty, but there.
"Dad," I say getting up and limping toward him. He wraps me in his arms and kisses my cheek. We stay like this for a few minutes until he lets me go.
"What happened?" he asked helping me back to the couch next to Sam. I sit betweent he two of them.
"We got split up, they attacked the safe house, followed up to the gas station. How do they know where we will be?" Sam questioned like it was something that shouldn't be happening. I mean, isn't that how killers are?
"It is werid, usually they wouldn't know that soon in advanced. There has to be something going on, someone telling them these things," dad says as the boys all sit thinking.
"Where's mom?" I suddenly asked feeling a bit paniked that she wasn't there. My dad looks at me then Sam, then at the ground.
"I don't know," He says with a sigh. Those words send my mind into over-drive.
"You don't know?" I say getting upset. How does he not know where his wife is.
"When they attacked the house, everyone got split up and i lost track of her.... I haven't got word from her nor Zack or Rylee," he says. Great my mom and my uncles are missing.
"What about Aunt Layla?" I say knowing she was attacked while we were on the phone with her. Dad's face drops, not a good sign.
"I found her hiding in the woods behind the house, but i was to late. They had already gotten to her and she refused to give up the safe house location," he says making my eyes tear up.
"She's dead?" I questioned and he nods. Molly is going to be crushed, and we can't find Zack either.
"What do we do from here?" Josh asked trying to change the subject. My dad changes his focus from me to the boys.
"We need a plan, i need to get back to the house. There is all the weapons we need hidden in the floor boards there. I hid them years ago knowing this would happen sooner or later. But the problem is there are many of the gang members taking up residence there waiting for us to come back," he says making Sam and Josh both nod.
"Will a distraction work?" Josh asked making us all look at him. Just as we do Cole and Molly along with TJ come rushing into the cabin and slam the door. TJ was bleeding from the leg, Cole had a cut on his face, and Molly has a cut on her arm.
"What happened?" dad asked standing up. Cole and him hug and then dad hugs Molly who is freaking out.
"They chased us and we fell behind.... Talia...She didn't make it," TJ says more upset then i thought he would be. Of course, him and Talia did become pretty close today.
"We need to do something and fast," Cole says as we all gather back around the living room.
"Josh is right, we need a distraction," Sam says as all the boys start talking. Then i get an idea.
"I'll distract them," I say making them all look at me like i was crazy.
"No way in hell," Cole and Sam say in unison.
"Not a chance Cassidy," Sam says standing up pissed.
"Yeah, no way are we throwing you out to die," Cole agrees with him.
"Come on, they want me most out of all of us. Cole and I are the main reason they are here anyways. They won't kill me, Andrew already made it clear the 'Boss' wants us alive," I state making everyone go into a rant.
"Hush," dad shouts making everyone stop. "She is right, they will shoot anyone else who tries this. Cole needs to be helping us, so Cassidy is out only option at this point," He says with pain clear in his voice as he looks at me.
"Dad are you out of your mind? That is signing her death bed right there. You are going to take Andrew's word for it, they have killed everyone in their way, what makes you think they won't kill her?" Cole says in a very upset and angry tone.
"Cole don't argue with me.... Now is not the time, and if we want to get your mom and uncles back alive, we need to do this and we need to do it soon. Cassidy is right, she is the only way. I hate this idea just as much as all you guys do, but we have to do it," he says looking at Sam who refused to look at me.
