He kisses me, yes you heard right. Sam Johnson is kissing me. I was in total shock right now, i didn't know what to do. I waited for him to pull away, and when he did, i missed the feeling of his lips on mine. No, snap out of it Cassidy you can't like him.
"Sorry," he suddenly says backing away. I shake my head.
"It's okay," i say softly because it was true, it was okay, i enjoyed it but i wasn't going to tell him that.
"No it's not. My job is to protect you, not do that," he says getting upset with him self. I laugh a little and then pull him back and kiss him again before pulling away.
"Now we're even," i say with a smirk. He shakes his head in amusement at me as we start walking again.
"So, tell me about everything," I say as he helps me over a fallen tree in our path.
"What do you mean?" he says holding my hand as we walk. I smile at him and shrug.
"Like, how was life all these years?" I question, because i really did want to know how it all was. Being away from the outside world all these years.
"I don't know, it's not like i was locked away. I went out, just you never seen me because i dyed my hair and wore color contacts so no one would notice who i was. I seen you every say walking from from school but you never noticed. It's my job remember, to look after you even when the danger wasn't here yet. It did have it's down's tho, like training hours on end. I can tell you, your dad and uncles didn't take it easy on Cole, Keegan, Josh, TJ, or me. They worked us until we could barely stand. Sometimes we even got hurt training," he says making me frown a little.
"What do you mean?" I asked as we approched the cabin. He stops and lifts his shirt to expose a small scar.
"Cole stabbed me with a pocket knife because my mind wasn't in the training. We practiced with real weapons, so we would be prepared for anything," he says like it was no big deal.
"My brother stabbed you! Oh my Gosh, what kind of training was going on?" i say freaking out.
"Relax, no one had to ever go to the hospital, it was all part of the learning, now we are ready for almost anything. That is all that matters, besides i got him a few times as well," He says with a proud smirk. Before i got another word in Cole rushes out and hugs me.
"What took so long?" he says looking at my bleeding arm. "What happened?" he says in a panic.
"Your sisters plan was a fail.. They had guys waiting there for us, guess they figured we were going to have to drop someone off at some point. They chased us through the woods, but we were lucky to get away this time," Sam says as we go inside, no one was here.
"We had to move, we can't stay in one spot to long, and with people in the woods now we really can't" Cole says grabbing one last bag that was left. Lexi and Jade run in and Cole smiles and pets them.
"Oh yeah, we picked up a few extras on the way," i say with a laugh as the dogs were so excited to be back with family.
"Where is everyone?" Sam asked as we walked to Cole's truck. He threw his bag in the back and we all got in, the boys in front and the dogs and I in back. Cole had a huge lifted truck, so it had a lot of room.
"I sent them to the safe house," Cole said as he started his truck, it was a diesel so it was kind of loud.
"Where's the safe house?" I questioned as we get on the main road. Sam looks at his phone and talks at the same time.
"It's in a different town. Probably a four hour drive from here," Sam says focused on what ever was on his phone.
"Dad and Mom got a house in case we needed to run, they have several of them across the country for us. It's a secret location no one knows about, we will be the safest there," Cole says pulling onto the highway. I lean back and look out the tinted windows. I watch our hometown pass us, all the memories and everything around gone.
"Wait!" I shout making Sam look back at me fianlly. "What about Mom and Dad," i say making Cole look a little torn.
"Cassidy, right now we need to focus on us... I am waiting for their call, just give them time," He says as he speeds up. I shake my head with tears.
"Why haven't they called already Cole? What if their dead?" I say getting more upset. Sam unbuckles and climbs in the back seat. Lexi takes the chance and jumps into the front with Cole. Sam pulls me against him as i calm down.
"I promise we will come back soon to look for them," he says as he smooths my hair. I nod and lean against him still looking out the window. Jade was sitting on the floor, but she laid her head on my lap and i pet her softly.
"It's okay baby," i whisper as i slowly drift off to sleep.
