Moments float around in my head
Like airy piano melodies
Played on electric keyboards
With the volume turned down so it's quiet
Sometimes a bad choice slips through
A wrong note, dissonance rising
As the pedal stays pressed, the chord lingers
I let my fingers rest a bit
Thinking about what to play next
How to make it better
The next song begins, my hands detached from my mind
I close my eyes and wait to hear
What the keys will open,
Wonder where they will take me.
