Happiness tastes like
A pink peach smoothie
Extra whipped cream, of course
Sending surges of freezing cold through me,
But making my adrenaline rush faster.
It smells like something colored red or mahogany,
Spiced wood or a scarlet candle flickering,
Something that fills me with warmth.
It looks like Christmas lights.
A tree clothed with iridescent colors,
Sheltering me from the snow.
And you are beside me,
And in your eyes the stars of color glow
Like fireflies with multicolored masks.
Happiness sounds the birdsongs at dawn
Creatures composing carols about what they love,
The patch of forest that they own
Songs dedicated to their homes.
And it feels like a coat of warmth,
Something safe and sparkling, something soft,
Like your arms around me, your sleepy smile
As we doze off together,
Lightyears away from pain.
