The sky is the color of blackberry jam
With some stars thrown in.
The moon is nowhere to be seen,
Hiding behind the thermosphere.
The world is an observatory now,
Every constellation is glowing crisp and clean
It is just like a dream come to life.A girl sits in her room,
Peeling lunules away to make keratin shards
While gazing out the window.
Her heart throbs to remind her
That she is, indeed, alive
The entire sky was reflected in her eyes
Registering in her wise mind
As beauty,
She was on her bed, alone
Except her button-eyed animals
And her porcelain doll.
As a comet dashed by,
She gasped, and a wish tumbled out her mouth.
Before she could think,
But after the star had disappeared.
I can't tell you what she had wished for
Or else it won't come true
Because it hasn't yet.Lauren S.
