Awkwardnesses

Awkwardness is such a beautiful thing
The sweetest serendipity
The laughs that spill out just a drop
Like a cup tipped a bit but stopped from falling
The looks my lover gives me
When I can't see, or at least that's what he thinks
Until I return them,
And he blushes like a sky at dawn,
Looks away grinning.
The kisses that accidentally involve part of his hoodie
That block fractions of our lips,
The ones where my hair gets in his mouth
Or our teeth collide,
The cute little finger-touches,
The times when neither of us know how or when to say goodbye
The quirks and the nooks and the cracks in his voice
That is anything but broken
Awkwardnesses are the shapes of puzzle pieces
And mine seem to fit just right in his.
