Carousel

I am living in a carousel
That always pirouettes
In a whirlwind of frenzied mustangs that never tire
Dancing to the music warbling through calliope pipes
That always accelerates
I cling to one of the horses' manes
About to fall onto the wooden floor
Where the hooves would trample me,
Like keratin hammers
And with every day, this crazed carnival ride
Goes faster and faster
My mind whipping around, the thoughts becoming distorted
And I miss the days where these thoroughbreds were just fillies
And I was just a silly little girl without a care in the world
But in this racetrack that never ends, I can never win.
