An anglerfish lived in the depths of the sea
Where sunlight was just a tale
Far below the vibrant coral fish
The dolphins and the whales.
His lonely life was spent close to the sand
Scooping up minnows to eat
Saying "hi" to swimmers-by
But only for a second they'd meet
It was so dark down on the ocean floor
That the poor guy never knew
That across from his eyes, there was a bulb
Which could turn the black water light blue
One day, he noticed it faintly there
And wished it would get brighter
And low and behold, it flickered awake
Like the flame dancing on a lighter
The anglerfish was overjoyed
As finally he did know
That the ocean floor was a beautiful place
Now that his lightbulb glowed.
He could see the violet jellyfish
And the fish that shimmered green
It was like a forest of color,
Not like anything he'd seen.
Now, he dashed around the sea
Looking for places to discover
As with his new light, the world was a place
Of mysteries to uncover.
