The birds all sing in discord
The brown leaves stain the breeze
The roses weep their petals off,
Beneath the dying trees
The sky is a cloak of darkness
Shrouding us from the stars
The dusty streets of cold concrete
Are packed with lines of cars
And the sun is just a little smudge
Glowing weak and dim
While traffic jams are symphonies
Honking out their hymns
The heart of the earth is starving
It is so deprived of love
While its children bandage her with roads
Send smoke to the sky above
The lakes are full of the tears of geese
The oceans are topped with black
The beauty of the green young earth
Is leaving and won't come back.
