Too Real To Be Dreaming

I woke up this morning
To eggs sizzling
Potatoes and sour cream
Too real to be dreaming,
Toasters popping
Butter and jam
Skillets and ham.
Time inched by like a silkworm
Wrapped up in blankets,
Hot chocolate sipping
Seconds dripping from hourglasses in drops of sand
Slowly into my hands
A few sips and songs and long hours later,
I was with you.
Your eyes shined with a light so fine
That it fixed my mind
We swayed there, I wanted to forever stay there
Your arms around my waist
We are stuck together with the strongest paste,
Love.
Your eyes sizzle like iron skillets
Even warmer
Even stronger
Your lips taste like everything sweet
Everything spicy
Everything wonderful
Time kept dragging by,
But with you, that is just fine.
For the first time I'm living in the present
Not wanting to go back
Not being able to imagine a better reality than right here and now
This is real and some days I can't believe I'm not dreaming
Some days it seems ethereal.
But your hands are like Florida sand,
So relaxing, so safe
Never falling fast through an hourglass
With you,
Time chases us
Slowly turns us gray
But as long as you stay
It'll be okay
Cause we can wake up together
Make some skillet eggs with potatoes and sour cream
And we will never need to dream again.
