Disarray is hidden everywhere
Stuffed into our minds
Like wads of sketched-on paper
Leaving crumbs of graphite in our eyes.
It gets in our mouths
Holds our tongues back
We mumble, scumble, bumble
Teeter on tightropes
Climb up steep slopes
Losing sleep as the sky sweeps
The moon beneath the mountains
Disarray is hidden in the most obvious places
In space where colors bleed,
Flower from stemless plants
On earth where it is never understood
Nesting in our hearts, deep in our chests
Locked up behind our bones like an animal
Disarray is a monster
Distorting and growing when it meets a creature of its own kind
Making a Frankenstein beast
Stitched all together,
A hundred feet tall at least
Itching inside us, scratching and scratching
And finally hatching
Into a song or a poem or a painting
Evolving into something that sort of makes sense
The beast becomes beauty
Shining through me
Only to be reborn after another frenzied storm.
