I'm a fan of people getting together.

Tigers had won the match, which wasn't a surprise. They really were a strong team, and with Jake as the captain, they were undefeatable.

As we waited for Jake and Lina, Heath turned my way. "So what's the plan?"

Heath had come for the first game of the season just like he always did. He never missed the first game, be it basketball or football, firstly because of our brothers and now for Jake.

"There's a party at Warren's house. You remember Warren, don't you?" I questioned and after a thought, he pondered, "The guy who use to get Arden those brownies?"

I nodded. "That's the one. He's celebrating the win."

Camilla Ericson, my mom's best friend and Jake's mom, who was listening to our conversation offered, "Do you want us to drop you all there?"

I smiled at her but shook my head. "Thanks for the offer but we have a ride," I said, jiggling the keys to the jeep.

"Okay kiddo, you all take care alright?" Jared Ericson chimed in before he and his wife bid us goodbye and left.

"I'll go see if I can find Lina," Miley announced before she left as well leaving me with Heath.

I turned back to my brother and frowned. "Aren't you going to be late?"

"Are you trying to get rid of me?" He teased back and I smiled. "Maybe," I played along.

He suddenly lept my way and got me in a headlock. "Heath people are watching," I complained as I wiggled in place and my brother frowned my way as he let go.

"But you used to love those," he muttered, looking at me and I sighed. "Yeah, when I was thirteen," I whined, fixing my hair.

This caused Heath to pause and stare at me with a pout. "You're growing up really fast, you know that? I don't want that."

"Because that means you're growing old as well?" I jested and Heath swatted me on the back of my head. "Hey, I am not old," he uttered.

Rubbing the place where he hit, I pondered, "How are you a neurologist-in-making and so dumb?"

"Only for you baby girl," he winked at me and then his eyes shifted behind me. "And there comes your barricade so I'm gonna leave," he pointed out and surely enough my friends were coming our way.

Kissing my head, he said, "You take care." He waved my friends bye before walking away.

I turned the other way and threw the jeep's keys over to Jake, who skilfully caught it.

Throwing his arm around my neck he howled, "Ready to Part-y?"

And Miley raised her fist in the air. "Hell yeah." While Lina and I laughed as we went along.

I was glad the next day was a Sunday. I could peacefully sleep and not have to worry about seeing Roman or his friends.

I had just rounded the corner of the hallway in Warren's house when I bumped into someone. "Shoot. I'm so sorry," I apologised without looking up.

The other person only chuckled. I looked up and smiled as Eddie greeted, "Hey little one."

Edwin was a good person. Perfect grades, good looks and chivalrous - which was a concept dead to many guys nowadays.

I had first met him when he had come to our house with his sister Thea because she had to do a project with Arden and there was no one to look after him at their place.

He and Sky had immediately hit it off due to their love for basketball and for this very reason, he and Arden were never close.

Let's not forget he was also the one who saved me from Dobora.

"Hey Eddie. What's up?" I chirped and he shrugged. "Oh you know the usual. School, basketball practice, saving your ass and making sure my sister stays away from your ass of a brother," he mused.

I sheepishly chuckled. "Thanks for that one by the way."

"For trying to keep my sister away from your brother?" He joked and I swatted him on the arm.

"No. That one isn't appreciated. They're best friends, you can't come between them. No one is allowed to do that," I chided and he dramatically nodded along.

However, I looked at him sincerely and added, "But back on the topic, thanks for helping me out with the Dobora situation. I owe you."

"Not really. I owed Sky to make sure his sister is safe after he helped me so much with basketball," he countered and I nervously chuckled, suddenly remembering just how close he was to Sky.

Fidgeting with the hem of my shirt, I hopefully asked, "Sky doesn't know about the Roman situation by any chance, does he?"

"No," he replied and then looked at me curiously. "But what is the Roman situation? If you don't mind me asking."

I let out a sigh. Not knowing where to start from. "It's-"

"Don't say complicated," Eddie interrupted. "I hate complicated."

Chuckling, I shook my head. "I was going to say it's a long story."

Checking his imaginary watch, he said, "I have all the time in the world. But I'll need something stronger to hear about Roman. C'mon."

I let him guide me to the kitchen and there I told him everything. By the end of it he had a look of awe on his face.

"Oh wow. That's, umm, interesting," he commented, scratching the back of his head as he tried to make sense of it all.

I rolled my eyes. "Tell me about it," I said as I took a sip from my coke.

"But I don't get one thing," he piped and I looked at him. "Why did he and his friends stick around?"

And I had no answer to that. Which is why I stayed up for most of the night.

Why did they stay?

Surprise.
Two updates in one day!

Well it's my birthday so I thought I'll be generous.
