"I do not have two right feet!"

I giggled at Dylan's exclaim, and so did the other three basketball players from Dylan's team that were in our French class.

French class was not as bad as it was in the start of the year. I had finally gotten a hang of the subject.

And it helped that Roman hadn't been coming to school since the past two months - ever since the holidays ended - so bearing the class was easier.

Plus Dylan was in the class and despite it getting awkward at times - since I knew he still felt something for me - I was grateful for his presence, because he kept me distracted from many unwanted thoughts in the class.

He childishly stomped his foot before wrapping his arm around my shoulder with a pout. "Tell them Faith," he tried to get me to agree with him.

Snickering, I pointed out, "Well you did trip."

The group burst out into another fit of laughter while Dylan looked at me with feigned hurt.

"Why do you have to go around breaking my heart at every turn?" He mocked, leaning close to make sure no one else heard us.

I didn't get a chance to reply because Mrs. Amoré's voice interrupted all chatter in the room. "Ah, Roman. How nice of you to join us."

My head snapped towards the door at lighting fast speed and surely enough, Roman was standing at the entrance eying Dylan's arm around my shoulder with a peculiar look of distaste and I squirmed slightly under the intensity of that look.

Our eyes met for a second before I looked away, while Mrs. Amoré told everyone to settle in their seats.

Which sent my body in panic mode.

Mrs. Amoré had a seating chart in the class, meaning the chair next to mine was empty since the past couple of months but now it'll be occupied by the very person I wanted to be far, far away from.

Dylan, unaware of my internal dilemmas, removed his arm around me and walked over to his seat, while I went to mine.

My body, despite my mind being numb, was highly aware of Roman coming to seat down next to me.

The whole class passed by in a blur, with me resisting the urge to look to my right since I could feel Roman's eyes on my face from time to time.

The bell hadn't rang but Mrs. Amoré decided to end class early, but not before dropping a big bomb on my head.

"Next assignment is going to be in a pair work. You are going to write a 4 page essay on your partner."

When her eyes fell on me, I knew what she was going to say but that didn't mean I didn't dread it.

Everyone was suppose to pair with the person seated next to you and ever since Roman hadn't been showing up, I had been rather embarrassingly pairing up with anyone who was partnerless.

So I really wasn't surprised when she said, "Faith, since Roman is back, you don't have to find anyone else to pair up with."

I still don't look at Roman, instead at Dylan who shift in his chair and look at me with concern. I give him a somewhat reassuring smile, though I'm sure it's awkward and he nods before turning back to Mrs. Amoré.
