Loving you
was the most exquisite form
of self destruction

I was putting my books in my locker, when I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder.

Turning around, I found myself face to face with a familiar looking guy, whose name I couldn't remember.

"Faith. Hi." he smiled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

I gave him a smile in return. "Hey." I greeted back, eyeing his basketball jersey jacket, which had the number 17 on it, trying to recognise him.

"I'm Dylan," he introduced.

An awkward moment passed as I waited for him to say something more.

Biting my lip in anticipation, I finally broke the silence. "I don't want to sound rude Dylan," I started with a sheepish smile. "And I know this is going to sound awfully rude, but was there anything you need?"

"You."

"Excuse me?" I asked incredulously with my eyebrows high up.

He let out a nervous chuckle. "Well I've been wanting to ask you out since last year," he began.

"But Arden was always on your back and then you started to hang out with Roman and-" he broke off suddenly after mentioning Roman's name, and for a second his brown eyes assessed my face before continuing.

"Yeah. So I was wondering if you want to go to the Valentine's dance with me?"

I opened to mouth to say something but then pursed them together. I had never been asked out. And with all that's going on in my life, I had no idea how to respond.

"Dylan," I sighed and his shoulders slightly fell in defeat. "That's really sweet of you. I-"

"She would love to go," Miley replied for me, appearing out of the blue as she slang her arm around shoulder and gave Dylan a big smile which he gladly returned.

And then her smile dropped, her eyes narrowing. "But you better make sure she has a good time, or I'll leave her brothers on you," she threatened and Dylan's smile turned a little mischievous.

He gave her a two finger salute, before he took out a paper from his pocket and scribbled something on it.

"Here's my number. We'll talk the details out later. Bye," he waved after handing me the paper and immediately walked away.

I watched him disappeared before turning to my friend with a frown. "You made my brothers sound like dogs," I stated with a raised eyebrow.

Miley shrugged. "Your point?" I shook my head at head, and she reared me away from my locker and towards the school door.

"Now c'mon," she demanded and it was my turn to frown.

"Where?" I asked, and once more, she rolled her eyes.

"To find you the perfect dress. Duh."

"I'm not liking this."

I glared at Arden, who looked at me from head to toe, and frowned.

I, on the other hand, stomped my healed foot childishly, as I stared at my brothers and their girlfriends, all seated in the living room, watching me expectedly.

"God! Why are you three here?" I whined.

Turning to Wendy and Thea, I requested, "Take your boyfriends and get out please." After looking at Sky, who had a slight sly face, I added, "And take this one as well. I don't want him to chew my date alive."
