"Roman Winter."I threw Arden an annoyed glance as he whispered, seemingly in some sort of trance.
Looking my way, he exaggerated, "Like the Roman Winter." His face dropped. "Off all the guys in the world-"
"Arden," I spelled his name out in frustration. "I thought we have been over this."
"No we haven't," Arden said, shifting in his place in the back seat.
Heath had went all out and sent a car with a driver to bring us to the charity event, so thankfully we didn't have to drive. But this just gave Arden an opportunity to make this an interrogation.
"You said you'll explain-" he started listed the events that took place in my room after he found me and Roman, on his fingers. "-You asked him to leave. Then after he left, you told me there was nothing going on between the two of you. And then you threw me out because you had to get ready."
Throwing me a glare, he pointed towards me with a finger. "But let me make one thing clear missy; the way you two were standing in each other's embrace, that didn't seem like nothing."
"Wait." Arden's face changed with realisation. "How did he even get in? And why was he there, in your arms?"
Then with wide eyes, he raised both his hands. "Woah, woah, woah. How long have you two been with each other?"
I let out a sigh of frustration. Hitting him to stop him, I asserted, "Let me speak, you moron."
Raising my finger, I started answering his questions in order, "First of all, we aren't together. Second, I know him because Jake's girlfriend, Astrid, is his best friend."
I could tell him that Roman was sort of a friend but that would only make him more hysteric.
"What is Jake thinking?" Arden murmured as his face contracted in confusion, and I once more swatted him.
"Don't interrupt," I chided. "Third, maybe he got in because you had left the door open."
Giving Arden a accusing glance, I provoked, "Tell me Arden, did you close the door?"
I knew Roman had come from the window. I also knew that Arden would freak out and put me on house arrest if he found out about this. Thankfully Arden had a horrible habit of forgetting to close the front door.
And so it seemed that Arden really had forgotten to lock the door, from the guilty look he had on his face. Which I took advantage of. "Exactly. Fourth, he was-"
I stopped. I didn't know how to tell him why Roman was in my room. Arden must've noticed my abrupt pause, because he looked at me curiously.
Taking a deep breath, I confessed, “He was there because I had told him about mom the last time we've met, and he wanted to make sure I was okay."
"You-" Arden spoke after a moment of silence. Clearing his throat, he started again. "You told him about mom? And he was there to talk about it?"
Arden was about to ran a hand through his hair and I pulled that hand back since he had styled them and he threw me a appreciated glance before apprehensively saying, "But he's Roman Winter."
Here we go again.
"Stop saying his full name over and over again," I said in frustration, before letting out a sigh to calm myself. After a moment, I continued, "And he's actually not that bad once you get to know him. Just extremely-"
