Somewhere between laughing at him
And laughing for him,
I fell for him.

"So why does Arden get to take Sky's car when it's officially your's?"

Due to heavy snowfall, Arden's classes were postponed until after New year, so he had been a thorn to my side since Thanksgiving, and now Sky was on his way back as well for the holidays.

Back to Arden, since he was here and had nothing else to do, he would take Sky's car out without asking. The reason?

"His big argument was: because he can," I told Jake, who was going to drop me back after the game today.

We had all gone to have pizza to celebrate today's win, and Jake was kind enough to offer me a ride back because my brother couldn't care less about how I would get home.

"Touché," Jake smirked and then turned the radio on to listen to the heavy music that was playing.

December had passed really quick and so much had changed in a month. Roman and gang had taken a permanent residence at our lunch table, and things had been interested to say the least.

Sure there were times when Roman would disappear without telling and then would come back in a bad mood, but Declan had later told me that this was usual.

Allison's parents weren't huge fans of Roman ever since the accident happened, and everytime Roman went to see Allison, they would throw a fit which led to Roman's attitude problems.

Even today, from what I've heard Roman was at the hospital while the other three had been at the game with us.

Jake had officially asked Astrid to be his girlfriend and the two were going strong which led me to my next problem.

Looking at Jake, I decided to finally address that problem. Lowering the music, I began, "So Jake I was thinking-"

"I never like it when your start a conversation like that," Jake mused with a cheeky smile and I rolled my eyes.

"Anyway," I continued. "Well it was different before." Jake frowned at this. "But now that Astrid's officially your girlfriend, shouldn't she be wearing your number?"

"You don't want to wear my number anymore?" Jake asked, looking hurt and I shook my head.

"Jay-jay it's not that," I clarified. "You know I'll always be cheering for you, with or without this shirt."

And it was true. But this was more than that. I remember the first time Astrid had seen me in Jake's number and she had seemed jealous. And they weren't even dating then.

"It's just that I don't want to ruin your relation in any way," I disclosed, fidgeting with the hem of the jersey.

"You think she wants to wear my number?" Jake asked, scratching the back of his head and I shrugged. "I don't know. I'm not exactly the expert on relations."

"Neither am I."

After a moment, Jake spoke again, "But you know, I'm glad she said yes."

"So am I Jay-jay, so am I," I said with a smile and I leaned my head back.

"But you're still keeping that shirt," Jake ordered and I looked at him to argue but he beat me to it.

"Astrid is not like any other girl I've met. She's sassy and quirky and never misses a beat with her wit. She might not be the smartest but she never gives up, always up for a new challenge." He sighed wistfully. "When I'm with her, my life isn't a competition: to be better than Kyle or to be the team captain. No. I can just be myself and that's all she wants."
