People who hide their feelings
usually care the most

Roman's house kept getting extravagant, every time I came here.

Though in my defence, this was the second time I was here. So I had every right to be surprised, as the butler led me to the gaming room.

And I thought my brothers were over the top with their gaming addiction.

"Faith."

Declan was the first to notice me when I walked into the room, and I smiled at him, while giving a small wave to the others.

The room itself was every gamers' dream. It had a wall size plasma t.v. with shelves that had rows of movie on either side. Plush cushions scattered across the room, with a few chairs as well.

"Where's everyone else?" Gabriel asked, noticing the absence of my friends.

Astrid quipped, before I could say anything, "Jacob had football practice."

From what I had heard, their date last week was a hit. Jake had taken her out for a movie and then the two had gone out for pizza.

The two were already planning their next date, day after tomorrow on Sunday.

Nodding at the news Astrid had relayed, I added, "Yeah. And Lina had cheer practice along with that."

"And Miles?" Declan chirped from his place on the ground, and I grinned. "She's grounded for breaking her mom's favourite vase."

Declan whistled, "Tough luck."

"Everything's set up," Roman said, stepping from beside the television, after putting the game up, and only then did he notice my presence.

I grinned at him, but he walked past me, asking as he did so, "You know how to play?"

I scoffed, but nodded nonetheless as I looked for a place to sit.

Astrid, noticing my predicament, announced, "I'll sit this one out. Faith can have my place." She moved from her place beside Roman and I guess that meant that I was on Roman's team.

I hadn't sat down when Declan pouted, "But I wanted Faith on my team. It's not fair."

Rolling my eyes, I changed my course of direction as I went to sit beside him. "Sheesh stop whining. I'll be with you."

"Yaay," he did a little victory dance as I sat down while Gabriel scooted towards Roman.

"Good luck," Gabriel said and Declan snorted as he put an arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer. "I don't need luck. I have faith," he confidently stated and I let out a little giggle.

Looking at Roman who scoffed at our antiques, I winked, "Prepare to lose."

"I can't believe we lost third time in a row," I murmured in awe as I looked at the screen that declared that Astrid and Gabriel had won this round.

Roman had switched with Astrid after the first game and had been leaning against the window, watching us play.

Throwing my controller at Declan, I glared. "You suck at this.

"He definitely does," Gabriel agreed and Declan threw my controller at him as I got up. "Hey-"

Gabriel and Declan started arguing as I stomped towards Roman. "Next time I'm with you," I huffed as I got closer.

"Why?"

I hauled myself on the window sill and then looked at Roman who was already looking my way with a questioning glance.

"We make a good team," I stated as I playful hit him on the shoulder.

Narrowing his eyes at me,he asked, "Then why didn't you just pick me first?"

I stopped swinging my legs and carefully looked at his face as I tried to control my smile. He was upset I didn't sat down with him.

"What?" He frowned as I continued looking at him and I finally let out a crooked smile.

"You're cute when you're mad over stupid stuff," I cooed as I reached forward to pinch his cheek and he swatted my hand away as he turned to look at his friends while grumbling, "Shut up."

Smiling I too turned to see his friends - my friends - as they argued over which marvel character was better.

When I shifted my eyes back to Roman, he had a ghost of a smile as he continued to look at them.

"Why don't you let people see the good in you?"

The smile disappeared off his face and a serious look took over as he gazed my way. "Because when people see good, they expect good. And I don't want to have to live up to someone else's expectations."

"I thought you didn't care what other people want," I pointed out and turning his head away to countered, "I don't."

"Then why does it matter?" I nagged. "Why can't you be both?"

"Dammit Faith I don't want to," he snapped as he got away from the wall to turn to me, while catching the attention of the other three in the room as well.

"Some people just can't be good. Some people have nothing to be good for. Some people have lost someone they care about right in front of there eyes."

He turned his back to me as he put his hands on the back of his head. "But you wouldn't understand," he scoffed.

"Yeah. Why are I?" I taunted as I got off my sill and dusted my clothes. "It's not like I saw my mother die right in front of my eyes, right?"

I didn't dare look at their stunned faces as I rushed out the door, forgetting my bag in the process.

I heard my name being called from far away once I was in the drive way of the house but I didn't stop. I got in my car and drove away as quickly as I can.

I hadn't meant for it to come out but it did. And I couldn't do anything to take it back other than regret it.
