song - Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran
~"And your heart's against my chest, your lips pressed in my neck
I'm falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet
And with a feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now"~It was often said that you don't register the important moments in life while they are happening, that you only realize that they were important when looking back on them. It was something that she found herself believing, something that suddenly explained everything that they ever were - everything that they could ever be. If Millie could turn back time, she would realize how important the little moments were : laughing over ice cream, late night calls so that she could fall asleep, watching the sunset, the first time that she ever learnt about his freckles. But looking at it all from a different perspective, everything now seemed so different. The sunlight streaming across the pale expanse of his neck seemed so magical, the hairs on his arms practically standing up further so that they could be bathed in golden light. Every breath that escaped his parted lips felt so significant, Millie never knowing that the sound of breathing could be so special. The sweet dots of his freckles, the way that his curls tickled her neck whenever he breathed out, the goosebumps that adorned his arms when she ran her fingers over them - it all felt so important. She suddenly knew that she would always remember lying there in his arms, that even if the world crashed and burned to dust - nothing would be more important.
She watched him for a few more moments, unable to stop the smile that was growing onto her face - pure joy spreading through her. It was the kind of joy that made her want to shout from the rooftops, squeal into her pillow so that he wouldn't hear - a kind of joy that made all of the hardship in the world seem so small.
When she tried to leave his embrace, his arms tightened, voice a soft yet somehow stern mumble as he poked an eye open, "You aren't running away, are you?"
Millie rolled her eyes playfully, "No, I was going to find breakfast."
"Stay."
His eyes withheld all of the sweetness of the strawberries she was going to eat, his voice playful like a child - but it shook underneath everything. He was looking at her as if truly scared she would leave, or if he would suddenly wake up alone in his room, as if it had all been nothing but a cruel dream. She sighed as she let herself fall back into his embrace, her nose brushing against his collarbones - because when he looked at her like that, she simply didn't have the heart to refuse him of what he needed.
His wobbled, as if he had to check, "So...you're not throwing me out?"
She scowled. "You're not a one-night stand!"
"I would hope not..." he grumbled cutely, "because aren't you supposed to actually sleep together if it's a one-night stand?"
Millie's mouth fell open. "Finn!"
His eyes shot open, wide with panic, "Wait, no, no, no...I didn't mean it like that! I-I am...just, no, okay? I would never..I mean we...uh-"
She burst into giggles, her head dropping onto his chest.
"Oh, shut up" he whined.
"Never, I'm not gonna stop laughing at you!" Millie raised her head to look at him, smile playful while he glared at her - but there was no hostility behind it.
Finn glared. "Mill-"
She continued giggling, poking his burning cheeks.
"Millie-"
