song - Lover by Taylor Swift
~"Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home
You're my, my, my, my lover"~It was almost impossible for her to pinpoint the exact moment that she fell in love with him. There had been so many months, weeks and even days filled with so many feelings - things that she didn't even know she could feel. If she tried to find the exact minute that she looked at him and felt those feelings for the first time - she would spend forever looking. Maybe the light was shining down on his chocolate brown eyes through the art room window, making them look a thousand times sweeter, a paintbrush in his hand - and maybe she simply felt it. Maybe it was the feeling of his hand in hers before she found the light, the relief that soared through her when he finally arrived - maybe then she just knew. Or perhaps it was an entirely different moment of him standing there with pain in his eyes, begging her to say the words that he had been waiting to hear - maybe she just couldn't deny it any longer.
Their journey had never been a straight road, it was never simple. There were sharp turns in their road, rocky paths and never-ending bends combined with the fear that they would never find any middle ground between them, any stability. It had not been easy - but maybe that was the best part. Maybe it all added up to those small moments where she would wake up beside him, of the feeling of his warm lips on hers, the vulnerability that lay between them after the words had finally spilled from their lips. For she knew deep within her heart, that no matter how many times they had got it wrong - they had finally got there.
"Please, Finn."
He groaned on the other end of the phone, "Mill...if your parents catch me then it's all over! I'm pretty sure they don't buy your excuses for why the front door is always unlocked-"
"I want you here..." she whispered.
There was a deep sigh on the other side of the phone and she grinned.
"Fine" he hissed, "b-but this is the last time."
He said that last week, her heart warmed within her chest.
"I believe you..." she whispered softly.
Finn huffed.
Less than twenty minutes later, he was standing outside on her doorstep. His glare was playful as he shivered through the cold, dressed in a sweatshirt and tartan pajama bottoms that made her heart warm in a new, exciting way. There was a familiar feeling that soared through them both when their fingers interlinked, tugging playfully as they made their way up her stairs as quietly as possible - it was a feeling that simply reminded her of how far they had come. Finn sunk down naturally beside her, slipping in the duvet in the way that he knew how, her hand already reaching out for him to link their fingers together. Soon enough her head was tucked under his chin, his hands pulling the hair tie out of her golden locks so that he could run his fingers through them, caressing the shape of her shoulder blades.
A deep sigh left her lips, the kind of sigh that only came from complete and utter contentment - the knowledge that his touch could always chase away the bad dreams.
"Better?" he kissed her forehead.
She nodded against him.
Finn held up their linked fingers, pulling them closer to him so that he could peck along her knuckles, his warm breath causing goosebumps. "Good, now sleep."
